has anyone replaced their headlamp plastic covers?

when the car gets old... i know that the headlight covers get all scrached up and foggy... has anyone replaced theirs...

how much do the covers cost?

i put them in on my old E46 coupe, and they're a b*tch to snap back on... i think i lost 10 pounds trying to get them to snap on the second (large) plastic peice.. good luck =)

Be Very Careful!!!!!

DO NOT BREAK THE TABS THAT HOLD THE COVERS ON. Once the tabs are broken, the seal might not be tight enough and let moisture in and blow the bulbs. Also if you want to replace the tabs you have to buy the WHOLE light which is like $500-700 EACH!

I just cleaned mine. Looks as good as the day I got them now. They become foggy because a thin film of dust forms on the inside.

I think it's DuPont... that came out with a new buffing wheel and compound that is supposed to polish plastic just for this reason. Maybe look into that, it is probably cheaper and reusable.

My Ride: 2006 BMW M5
I just used a mini power ball and Maguires plastic polish. Worked well for me. Was not going to deal with the hastle of ripping these out of my facelifted coupe and tearing the lights up. Hopefully this gives some people an alternative.
