Cool 3 E46 M3 to race at the Grand American Miami race

This saturday February 28 there will be 3 E46 M3 racing in the GT class against Porsches, Ferrari, Maseratis, and Corvettes in the Grand American Rolex series. The race will take place in the Miami Homestead speedway. There will be 2 M3 from PTG and 1 from Alegra Motorsport/GT Technologies. I saw the PTG M3s race at daytona and they were fast. I expect them to grab a podium finish this weekend. I wouldn't be surprize if they finish 1-2.

Watch out Porsches the PTG M3s are coming!

SPEED TV will show the race tape delay on Sunday.

No "look out" for Porsche, The 911 GT3R's already waxed the PTG M3's at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.....but good luck PTG and BMW again.

Sorry ..my money is on the Porsche M3 GTR. Those cars are bullet proof and i am speaking from first hand experience comparing versus the BMW machine....Wachout for technical failure in the BMWs. I learned the hard way..... ...In 2002,my brother drove the Bell Motosports #54 BMW M3 (car in my SIG) at Homestead with gear box failure knocking him out...I doubt we will waste any time with BMWs for a long time.

The Porsches are king in the GT class right now. They have the displacement advantage 3.6litre compare to 3.2. The GT class accepts up to 4 litres without having to install smaller air restrictor. For this reason the next M3 or M4 will probably be a 4.0 litre engine to push the GT class rules to its limits. BMW wants to take the crown in GT racing away from Porsche. Porsche know BMW is cooking up something very strong that is why the 2005 911s will probably have a 3.8litre engine.

I tell you this. Those PTG BMW impress me a lot. I was at the Daytona 24hrs race and up untill 10PM or 11PM they were second in class and were lapping the field faster than the 911s. I could not believe it. The M3s eventually retired because of some electrical problems. PTG has said that they examined every part on those M3s and have installed new wiring. They even re-painted the cars.

Watch the next race the M3s will be tough.

So far so good the 2 PTG M3 took 1st and 2nd in practice today with a blistering pace. 1.5 seconds faster than the fastest Porsche.

Let's see tomorrow in qualifying. If they keep this pace a 1-2 finish during the saturday race is very real.

The PTG E46 M3 takes the pole in GT class with the second PTG M3 taking 4th in GT.

It is going to be an interesting race tomorrow.

I knew they could do it. PTG prepares does M3s as good as the best teams in class. They finished 1st and 2nd wilth the closest Porsche two laps behind. Now that is what I call smokin the competition.

The also had the fastest lap in class

Finally porsche has found tough competion.

BMW stop racing with the V8 engine on the M3 two years ago because the rules disallow that engine. This M3 has the same I6 3.2 litres engine found on the current production M3. That is why this is so remarkable. Beating porsche with a smaller enigne. It has the smallest engine in the GT class.

Porsche 911 F6 3.6
Ferrari 360 V8 3.6
Maserati V8 4.2
