Ugh.

Today I went to buy a bunch of detailing supplies, and I made it a point to park away from the other cars. So on my way out, I notice a ghetto ass old car parking next to mine. I watch as they open their door into my car. I hurry over, look at my door, nice ding that cracked the paint to the metal. Two big, ghetto-booty, ebonics speakin, gold teeth, fake jewelry, black chicks, come back to the car. As they get in, I ask "Did you open your door into my car?"......"no, whatyou talkin about whitebooy, we didfnt mess up yo ****"...."well, can you open your door part way, I want to see if the scratch lines up with your door.".....well needless to say the scratch is in the EXACT position their door opened/hit, there was even rust from THEIR car in the scratch on mine, and they stand there denying the whole thing. I asked them what they want do do about it, and they deny it and leave. So I took down their license plate number, car type, descriptions etc etc...

Should I file a police report, or let my insurance deal with it? I have a $50 deductible so it's not a problem really. It just makes me sick that they can get away with crap like that. Some people have no respect for anyone elses property.

File it....seriously, isn't that fleeing from the scene of an accident lol

I absolutely hate that!!! We had one bad ding down to the primer coat... unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to be around when it happened!!

So I spent $150 with the dent wizard and they took out all 6 or 7 dings... but that scratch was paint damage...

My wife works at the mall... so it will be hard to keep the mall rash off!! So I tell my wife that she is to park as far away as possible and next to other luxury cars... preferrable between two Benz's if at all possible!!

$50 deductible!! wow... just file a claim!!

sure it is - their car 'hit' your car enough to damage it and they left the scene. i hope you tooke lots of picks and took your car to a body shop before cleaning it at all..

I own a "home study" traffic school. In an actual case of "hit & run", Party 1 (the hitter) must be driving/operating their vehicle at the time of the collision. You could argue that someone being careless and dinging your door may be "vandalism", but even that's a stretch and you'd have to prove that they did it intentionally.

my point is that he was not there at the time so he could not be sure the driver wasnt 'operating' the car at the time the passenger got out and dinged the car. if the evidence matches to the persons' car it can be proved that they were the cause of damage and left the scene without taking responsibility.

Nothing against black people but there is a big difference with blacks and those people we hate to call the "N" word. This happens to me once a week when I go buy $1.00 tacos over the mexican neighborhoods or when I go watch an A's game.

It happened to me twice. Last month I went to target and had 3 of them hanging out of their hooptie ass "Nelly" mobile blasting home speakers in the trunk playing that rap **** (I mean rap ****, the type that you have not even heard of because it is deep in the ghetto rap ****). I mean the lyrics were F this and F that, I shot this I shot that, Rob'd a liquor store... that kinda stuff with their kids in the car!! Anyway, The 20lb. door was resting on my Chrome Schnitzers. I did not want a confrontation but rather I just wanted to leave. So I said, Excuse me, I am pulling out of my space, do you mind getting your door off my rims. These ghetto ass people had the nerve to tell me "alright *****, get yo' bimma outa here before we scratch yo' hood. You and yo wanna be twenez'. what size doze, 18", dose ain't dubz....", "get yo cha-nise ass outa here".

This pisses me off. Matter of fact, I am not even CHINESE. After close inspection, they did scratch my hood and also threw a chicken bone at it.

Nothin much we can do about these people because our government supports them to live and suck all of us tax payers dry. I just look at them everyday and just "...feel solly fo yo muda". and walk away. I have learned that people like that will live miserably for the rest of their rotten lives while we drive off with our nice cars towards our nice homes in our nice neighborhoods. I just avoid them any chance I get. Let them rot in their Ghettos, they are bound to kill each other off anyway.

Reeeaach baby, reach! Unless the other driver "crashed" into your car, it's technically not hit & run. I'm not trying to rib you, I just don't want him to look like an overzealous, vengeful car nut when he walks into his local police station and trys to press charges for hit & run.

Don't get me wrong; if I were writing the laws, dinging someone's door would be a felony. He should just go in to his local PD and explain the situation in detail and ask what his best recourse is.

just going off of what the insurance company told me when they offered to cover the damage Sonnen did to my car as hit and run

and all of us look like overzealous car nuts to most people anyway because we even care about it like we do

I think you have to file both a police report and an insurence report. Sucks. BTW, even if it isn't hit and run, it is either "mischieve" , or "vandalism".
