Front Components for sedan...

Hey everyone. So I think I'm looking at either the MB Quart PCE-216 or JL VR650-CS. Is anyone running the JL components? I've heard the MB's are very bright haven't read anything on the JL's. Also, do they fit pretty easily? I heard the MB's come pretty close to dropping in.

Thanks!

I am looking into a speaker upgrade. I listened to MB quart PCE, JL XR (one step above the VR), and Focal K series. For me the JL's don't compare to either the MB Quart PCE's or Focal K's.

I will probably go with Focal Ks, I think they sound as good as the MBQ PCE's and the prices are similar. And lots of people have the MBQs. Since they are so close I would chose the Focal's just to be different. But that's just my style.

Be careful. Looks like the speakers you listed were all 6.5 It might take some modification to get those in the sedan doors.

From what I've read. The focal slims and MB quarts fit pretty much like a drop in. I know the MB Quarts might stick out a little, but that is what a dremel is for.

i put in tr650 csi jl audio speakers in my 04 330i with h/k system. the mid is technically a 6" but with a little grinding to the plastic mounting ring. the jl fit. the rears are also 6" and i put in tr600 coaxials in there and had to grind the mounting ring there as well. as for the tweeter part of the front components, you will have to make a little metal bracket and they fit well in the area by the 'A' pillar. of course this is the h/k system on a late model 3 series.

but if your not amping these new front speakers you will have to remove the cap on the mids to get them to sound worth a **** using the stock amp. the tweets are very bright. and these are the TR series, and you talking VR which are even nicer. i had the vr650 coaxials in my last car and loved them. however i did amp those speakers unlike what i am doing now.

I'm powering mine with a JL 300.4 and powering my sub with a separate JL 250.1. So it should be ok.
