How do you think I did for my first time with this car at the Track?

I ran a 14.8 with a bad R/T time, something like .708.

My trap speed was 93.10mph. My 60ft time was 2.273.

That was my first run, I only got two runs in today.

The second one I messed up on my launch, I spun my wheels fully through 1st gear. Ran a 15.6 with a 91.69 trap. And my R/T time was .937. I wasn't paying full attention cause I was messing with my radio and vent, I was turning them off.

my first time was retarded
17.6 1/4 time cuz my tires werent warmed up and I was spinning through 1st and 2nd gear. I think my trap speed was somewhere around 85

What car were you running against?

I want my click back - I clicked this thread thinking TRACK, not silly ¼ mile.

I absolutely hate comments like these. And this one is coming from one of the forum's better members...

If an 'actual; race track is your preference over a drag strip that is fine. But you know what; a 1/4 mile drag strip is still 'a track' and there are plenty of professional racers that drag.

We all understand that our bimmers are more easily set up to run well in the twisties, but some people like seeing what the car can do in the 1/4 mile.

And it just drives me nuts that people on this forum trash on people for wanting to see how fast they can go in a straight line. To me it would seem that the people saying this stuff are trying to compensate for the fact that they feel their cars are not fast enough in a straight line. And they are trying to make themselves feel better about not driving the world's fastest steet car.

Our cars, are a step above everything else on the road, and they can be made damn fast, for those of us with the $$$, but try not to bag on people for things that they enjoy.

Afterall, personal preference and the differences in all of us make the world go round.

first time with my m3 my best time without a launch was 13.88 and after i went to the track i found out if you do these things you can drop your time pretty much

have 1/4 tank of gas
take out your spare in trunk or any thing heavy in the trunk
don't have nobody else in car or no extra weight in car
put back tires at around 26 to 28 lbs of air and front tires at 40 to 44 lbs of air
when you go down the 1/4 have your car kool between runs make engine kool down
have perf tires like so3 on your car
ease down on the gas just enough to not burn out if you do you will lose time

if you really want to lower your e/t put on slicks they make a big difference.

find the right shift point to shift on my car it is at 5700rpm and not at 8,200
want to go threw most gears as possiable only long races you want to go to red line.
try these tricks you should save some time i would say.

I figured I didn't have much to do that day and my friend wanted to drag his mach1 mustang so I said why not. I would've been happy if I ran a 14.5

Thanks for the advice. I thought about taking air outta my tires, but I didn't have a compressor to put some air back in after I was done with the runs. I also had a little less than 1/2 tank of 3/4 91 and 1/4 100 octane gas. I think I might go again next week, this time, I'll go without my spare and some other small stuff I had in the car.

Do you think slipping the clutch or using the gas pedal to control the wheel spin is better?

I ran against a WRX. I think he was stock except for an exhaust. He ran a 14.9x. I got a way better launch that he did tho. And I heard him revving up pretty daym high before we started. His reaction time was better than mines.

That guy needs to learn to drive all you day is rev to 5 grand and dump in the WRX AWD makes launching a breeze.

Maybe, he didn't fell like killing his clutch. I only revved up to 3000 rpms for the launch.

heating up your STREET tires is only going to make you feel cool until you get done with your run and you realize you just wasted $50 in tires for ZERO difference in your ET. with the exception of a few good drag radials and some R rated bad-ass-mamajama tires it'll do nothing for you.

BTW, the track is MORE fun then the dragstrip, but the dragstrip is still a really good time, and it costs a WHOLE LOT less.

Yup
