Can a DIY change an air bag module in a 2001 330ci?

Hi,

The air bag in my 2001 330ci has gone off and people have told me that it must that the air bag computer module must be replaced because it is only good for one time use. If I purchase a used computer module will it be plug and play or is there more to it then that?

Thanks,
Ken

jbeurotech,
Thanks for the reply. Can you please clarify for me that even if my air bag has deployed and I have changed the air bag, the air bag computer module does not have to be replaced? The reason I'm asking is because the air bag light is on on my dash and the code that it is showing is the air bag module.

Secondly you say that I don't have to replace the air bag module after every accident but if the air bags have been deployed then is this still ture. If I don't have to change the air bag module then how do I remove the srs light on my dash that is telling me that there is a problem with the air bag module?

Thanks,
Ken

I've read that the airbag computer is good for up to 3 times. Then it needs replacing.

Your light will remain on until reset by the dealer. You can always get that airbag reset tools found around ebay.

What exact fault are you gettign you need to have it scanned by a BMW code scanner, also when the air bag fires the seat belt tensioner also fire and more than likly this is your fault. Evan if the air bags go off you don't have to change the module unless it has somehow been dmaged.
