Nah... just for looks really. I use AC-Schnitzer pedals. UUC and Hamann also make nice pedals. Or there's always the BMW ones.

For AC-S, UUC or Hamann, go here: E46Fanatics Store

if you want the BMW ones, try here: Cutter BMW

good luck!

Personally I think they do make a difference. I have the UUC ones and I think it makes it easier to slip the clutch in a controlled manner. Now this may just be psycological because they look so damn cool but either way, go for it and get some.

I think it depends on the shoes you wear...

I can feel a definite difference with my ACS pedals (UUC would be the same) when I wear my Rockports. They feel grippier to me, particularly on the side to side plane. Plus they look damn nice!

My UUC pedals make the pedals feel stickier. Not sure if that improves my driving but they look great

Oh yeah, I forgot about the little quirk. E46fanatics stickers do the same thing!

Actually they do...

but it all depends on the shape of the pedal. Mine for instance, the uuc, are basically the shape off the original pedals, and damn they look good. But the performance part comes in when the shape of the accelerator is actually extended where it will sit closer to the brake, decreasing the gap between the brake and gas. This allows for easier heel-toe downshifting. I guess thats not really performace, but it helps compared to having to deal with the original gap between the brake and gas on regular pedals. But all in all most pedals on the market are basically the shape of the original and you cant deny that aluminum pedals look good!
