Some more progress...man if you think waiting 3 months for your car to be built is bad...this is 100x worse =T...

We dry fitted the fenders, front, and headlights today...

Left front...

Fender is held in by 4 torx up top...two in the door jam... one behind the front wheel...and one behind the front corner...

Then the fender pratically just falls out...

I just realized that this is a great time to do the front corner delete mod...since the wiring is all exposed =)

Surprise surprise...the oem fender fits like oem...easiest part all day...

Install the lower headlight bracket...

Slide the headlight in...

As measurements predicted...bolts in perfectly...so no the headlight clips for the facelift coupe aren't any different than any of the other E46 variants...

Moment of truth...much better than I thought it would be...but still a good amount of work to fill in the gaps...

I feared that the shape would be all messed up...but it seems fine to me...

The top of the fender is a few mm shorter than it could be but again...its pretty damn close...

Lower the hood...got some gaps on the highbeam side...

A step back...

Fitting the Rieger CS bumper for coupe/cab...they don't make a sedan version...

It doesn't flair out like the M3 version which saves me a good amount of bracket modification...

The hood shape is different...but with the new hood it won't really matter anymore...

General picture of how its gonna end up...it almost looks like white carbon fiber hood on a black car...=p

Happy Labor Day Weekend guys...I'm off to vegas...Pimp'n'Hoes@New Orleans...anyone else going?

Evidence: I'm not really a fan of the widebody unless its the flossman...I originally was going to do that...=)

So I lied...I didn't go to vegas yet...decided to put that off until tomorrow...gotta get cracking on the car before school officially starts...cus then I'll have absolutely no time...

Another episode of Pimp My(own) Ride! I like to work together with people...no fun paying a shop money and not doing any of the work together...Plus then there would be no pictures...

Today's adventure is to fine tune the intercooler so it fits the Rieger CS bumper...both the items aren't supposed to be for the sedan so it'll be some fun...

A closer look at Rieger's bumper assembly...

Brackets to the OEM mounts...fiberglass replicas didn't come with this nice feature...

So the first attempt at fitting the bumper into the brackets..they are about 1 inch too wide...thats not really a big deal...

The mounts have some tolerances built into the bracket...

The AA intercooler was made for the M3...so the hardware didn't exactly fit right...but I tried my best anyway...so off to Home Depot for a washer skewer...

It's awesome having the right tools...the shop cut through my threaded rod in half in 1 second...it would've taken me much longer...

Extended the Intercooler mounts...

Helped me trim them to perfect length...

Now I can fine tune the height of the intercooler...

Bumper Reinforcement clearance...1-2mm...

Intercooler to fan clearance...1-2mm...

Yay intercooler fits...now for the bumper...it hits the intercooler so we have to chop some of it off...

Dry fit again...lines up perfectly...

Side view...

Front View...

Future intake air duct...

Intercooler bumper clearance 1-2mm...

Then I realized the alumnium intercooler looks pretty ugly...IMO it looks like my car has braces...so I learned how to paint today...first strip all the crap off of the intercooler...AA uses wayyy too much tape...it took me over an hour to get all the tape residue off...

Scrub...and scrub some more...

Hang it up...

I did the oil cooler too...

Then we sprayed some sort of primer I think it was? and painted it satin black...

5 minutes later...all done...

Not to shabby...

sickkk
although i think i woulda left the oil cooler unpainted, and only painted the ends of hte intercooler.
i wouldnt want the paint to clog up the fins or something like that (i dunno)
anyways, black absorbs more heat, so that might heat up the intercooler faster or something

actually, black dissapates heat more quickly than lighter colors. This is one of the reasons that gun barrels are black. So the intercooler will cool down faster and run cooler.

I definitely remember reading a thread about this topic not too long ago. In any case, I agree with you mite about how the car looks with the painted intercooler. I can't attest to the issue of more heating, etc.

Did you ever say what kind of wheels you'd be rockin? If your car ends up being the color of that bumper, some dpes in a dark finish (titanium asphalt, platinum graphite, or even phantom black) might look pretty serious. But I'm sure whatever you pick will be well-planned and thought out.

Keep up the hard work, mad props bro.

Damn, I didn't think you'd pull it off (facelift coupe headlights and all) but I think it's gonna look nice. Though I'd rather have the intercooler in its original color.

The black cooler looks great sitting in that big 'mouth'. Another option would have been some sort of black mesh/grill with the chrome cooler behind it. That would look kinda high tech and pretty awesome I think.

Its running, hes not in the process of turning the front end into a facelift, coupe headlights and sedan fenders.

Made it back from Vegas in one piece...Pimp'N'Hoes was ridiculous...not sure how to describe it...quite desenitizing...Most girls were wearing bras and thongs...there a few that were just naked...The part I didn't like were the 35-40 year old asians that were rolling...I guess there is no such thing as an age limit in Vegas...12,000+ people...the trance was excellent...Here's the Arena@Orleans...

I was planning to come home sunday to avoid the traffic...but I flipped a coin and our fate was to go to Light@Bellagio on Sunday...it felt like all the chicks were over dressed...But it was definately one of my top 10 clubbing experiences...I guess that goes to show that its not always better with hoes...Despite the 6 hour drive home...GPS and some dirt roads shaved off a good hour...the extra day was worth it =)...

Okay...back on topic...last time painted the IC's black...this time connecting the rest of the pieces...I still like it black...seems the board is 50/50...

I still need to deal with my intake piping...The AA supplied one is for the M3 and because our front fenders and wheel area is different...it doesn't really reach...a 3 inch pipe barely fits into this area...

04+ Coupe Headlight trims came in today...The fender needs to be extended a bit to cover the gaps...

Side profile looks good...

Rieger CS bumper flows quite well with the fenders...Needs a little fine tuning but there isn't a noticable gap like on M3 retrofits...

See what I mean? =)

Both eyeballs in...

Still waiting on the hood...=(

The welder is gonna fill in the gaps tomorrow...then prep the car for paiting...So close to finishing...

Hope everyone had a good weekend =)

Finally did you decide what to do with the rear?
What about CSL bumper retrofit with the four mufflers

good god, first the engine now the front end.... this thing is just impeccable. I think you should get a facelift sedan hood with the M3 power bulge. The facelift sedan hood is the most agressive of all e46... add a power bulge and youve got it made.

.... oops sorry, just realized you were getting the atr hood
