Is this even possible???

A 323i sedan,step (no engine or exhaust mods) out accelerating a 325 ci, manual ( ithink) from a dead stop?? I'm thinkin the other guy was just a bad driver.


Coming home from seeing our new house being built tonight I pulled up to a stop light and there happened to be a 325ci (with an exhaaust - all i saw was chrome under the rear bumper and I know it wasn't stock tips.) At this point in the road it goes from 2 lanes to one to begin a merge with other lanes. Well, i pull up a few inches past him to the white line on the road. As we are waiting for green he rolls forward and revs a little. The light goes green and its on. About 50 ft from the light the road turns to the left and I am on the inside lane which means I don't have to worry about the guardrail and traffic. I accelerate through first and shift to second smoothly. I hear his exhaust blaring through first and then it sounded like a bad shift. At that point the merge was coming so he got in line behind me and tried passing me later but I wouldn't let him . HE then got in a turn lane and made a left.

What blows my mind is that he didn't jump out ahead of me from the light. Our reaction to the green light was about dead on and I thought he would pull away. I guess its not 100% about the car but the driver too.
