Need opinions on BBS wheels

Need opinions. I'm trying to avoid the hassles of shipping from the States to Canada. Tiretrends.com (Canadian company) have these. What do you guys think of these BBS RA's (22lbs, $2200), CH's (22lbs, $3200), and RK's (18lbs, $2500). All Canadian prices. I like the RA's considering the price but I've never seen them on any car before. Is there any reason for this. Anyways, opinion away please.

Also, would you guys even consider getting all-seasons on these and using them year round, or should I just get all out winter tires on my current stock rims?

i don't like the RA's at all; i love the CH's; also in that price range are RC's, i have a set of RC's that i run in the winter (i think they've been discontinued, but you may be able to find a used set

I like CHs, but I'm biased. Hehehe.

Are there any other opinions out there? I'm looking to get wheels really soon. I blew a tire just yesterday and I'm running on the spare (full size, but I don't have another spare in case bad luck strikes me again).

Are there any other easily accessible rims recommendations maybe from some fellow Canadians.

After some not so serious discussions with my good buddy. I decided on getting a set of O.Z. Superleggera's in 17s. You can't beat the low weight. I think it looks pretty good too. I found a picture of a car identical to mine with the rims I ordered. I think it looks decent. Getting the same weight in a BBS rim would be above my budget (even though they are probably stronger and look better).

Would you guys consider getting all-seasons on these and use em year round or just go summer and put winters on my current stock rims?

Congrats on your new wheels. Being from the great white north myself, I would recommend using your stock wheels with a set of snow tires myself. I don't know which stock wheels you have, but I run a set of 17X7's with 205/50R17 Pirelli Snowsports, and have a blast in the winter. Winters here can do very bad things to very nice rims, and something a little skninnier than an 8 inch wide rim would cut through much nicer.

I agree with this line of thinking. You'll be much happier with tires dedicated to the seasons you have instead of making a compromise which will only perform adequately, not great, in either.

As far as the wheels, I like the CH's first then the RK's.

i got my wheels (BBS RKs 17" on 225/45ZR17 toyo t1s) from tiretrends. great price and service was great. originally there was a mix up due to the bbs warehouse but they resolved the problem very quickly. ask for mort(en). however i don't think they have the hunter gsp9700 balancing equipment (or either i didn't know to request for it) so i ended up having to do some rebalancing. however if you want the best price you may consider tirerack and import them yourself. i went w/ tiretrends because they were also kinda local. maple ridge where tiretrend's at is about 1hour from vancouver.

excellent decision. I got OZ SL 17" too and car feels more agile than OEM wheels due to light weight. I went with all season, albeit i already have snow tires. You should always have a set of snow tires if you use your car as daily driver.

After some debate, I decided that I can't really spend another $600 CAD or more dollars for some good winter tires in like three months. It'll be snowy in Alberta by October. I've been driving my whole life on all-seaons, and I don't think it'll be too much of a problems, no accidents at least. And unlike say Vancouver, it isn't exactly hilly here. Having to drive in snow 5 months of the year I hope I've picked up some skills.

I got some Kumho Ecsta ASX's. I read a few reviews around the net, and everyone has complimented the usability in the snow. If it gets really bad, than I'll just suck it up and buy some winters and get some summers after the Ecsta's wear out.

why's that?

Even though I'm a CH fan, I think the RK's will always be a classic wheel. My buddy had RKII's on his 540 and RK's on his Dinan 3. http://www.bamboodigital.com/mitch
