Nitto NT555 vs. Pirelli PZero vs. Pirelli PZero Nero

What do you think? I'm looking at buying some 19" HM2's from The Wheel Exchange and am concidering these tire options: Nitto NT555, Pirelli PZero Nero, and Pirelli PZero (reg. z rated). I'm from the Cleveland area and would not be using these in the winter. Also, I wanna know what u think of the Wheel Exchange, they seem to be pretty good. Thanks.

My buddy has NT555's on his G35 and the traction sucks. I almost bought the Nero's but I was told that they're noisy and the treadwear is like 120. None of them are very good choices.

Pzero Nero summer version has a wear rating of 220, while the Nero M+S is 400. Both tires have performed near the top of their catagory for wet and dry handling, and neither is particularly loud.

I think you might be confusing these with the old Pzero Assymetricos, which were not all that great.

I intially purchased the Neros because of the fantastic price, but Im very happy with the performance that theyve given me. Ive been driving aggressively on these tires for almost 10,000 miles now including 4 autocrosses. Theyve been holding up great and look like they will last for at least another 5,000 miles. They have been competitive in my region, helping me bring home a few trophies. I previously ran Yokohama ES100s and Im much happier with the Pirellis. -- Review Submitted 2004-03-11

If you live in Southern Cal and drive the freeways, this tire will scare you. I replaced a set of Yoko ES 100 with the Nero and took them off two days later. Very bad tramlining on the grooved freeway sections. I am back on ES 100 and very happy. The Neros may be a good tire for other parts of the country but not LA. -- Review Submitted 2004-02-07

On Southern California freeways, I am petrified with these tires. They tramline so severely to the extent that drivers around me back off because they think Im drunk. Its all I can do just to hold onto the car. On paved roads, they are vague at best. I have tried various pressures. I thought Pirelli was making a comeback. These were the OE tires on my Boxster S. They were noisy and thumpy from day one. Balancing and alignment helped only a little bit and only for a short time. Handling was only average. Wear was average (25,000 miles), but I would have been better off if they had worn out sooner. Overall, these were the worst tires I have had in 20 years!

First, these tires were never OE on any Porche car. Yet another person who has confused the Nero with the old assymetrico.

Regarding the M3 getting 10,000 miles on a set of rears- of course this will happen with lack of rotation.

I can't explain how a WRX owner could possibly prefer ES100's over the Neros...thats just plain crazy!

How many types of drivers, applications, roads, and miles are tested in your hard testing data? Yes, there are many good reviews as well, but the consistency in the bad reviews should be taken into consideration.

70+ drivers, a variety of road conditions, and E46 test cars. It does not get much more tuned to this forum than that.

It seems to be that some of the bad reviews are obviously about the old Assymetrico (like the Porche guy for example).

I'm not trying to start an arguement, but will also cannot just let one of the five best max performance tires on the market to be mistaken for an older one and thus bashed out of ignorance. This is a tire on the same performance level, if not higher than an S03 and Pilot Sport while being slightly more comfortable as well.

You need to tell us what you want out of a tire - long life, super dry grip, balanced wet and dry grip, occassional track or autocross use?

I have always been willing to give up tire life in exchange for max grip. I would pick the Kumho Ecsta MX or the Bstone S-03 Pole Position

Then again, for full-on grip with no regard to tire life but something streetable to a degree Pirelli PZero Corsa

You've pulled only a tiny fraction of the enormous number of testimonials. To get the best overall picture, you need to throw out few of the overly positive reviews as well as few of the overly negative ones and then view the overall trend. No doubt, these are awesome tires.
