tires = harsh ride?

I have the stock 205/55/16 on my car. I would like a performance enhancement, but do not want a harsh ride. If I go to a 225/45/17 will ride quality suffer much? Will handling increase noticeably? Would swapping tires for 225/50/16 be a good compromise?

its gonan depend on WHAT tires u go with more than the size if u get noisey tires or tires that squirm alot under turns u will hate it

In either size I would go with the Pirelli Zero Nero. A friend has them on his Prelude, they're very quiet and handle great.

i was in the same situation as you and i got 245/45/17 goodyear eagle f1 all around. handling is MUCH better than the old michelin energy pluses. they were terrible but in their defense they are not intended to be perf. tires, just "gt" tires. the ride did suffer somewhat but it doesnt bother me and i drive on dc roads regularly. i say go for it u will like the stickier handling

245/45R17 is pretty big... Did you mean 225/45R17?

225/50R16 would be a good compromise as it is wider, but has nearly the same sidewall height.

no i have the 245/45 all around on m68's i bought from somebody. kinda weird isnt it
