newbie question: sports suspension required for 17 or 18

I'm planning on moving up to atleast 17" (style 68 or 44) from my current 16" style 45's on a 99 323i 4 door.

Question to all:
Do I need the "sports package" suspension for the sports package 17" wheels? What about 18"?

No, you do not need to change your suspension to run most 17" or even 18" wheels.

no need for suspension, but...

...increasing wheel size (and going w/ lower profile tire) while keeping stock suspension will probably give the car a lifted look. In other words, the fender gap will look greater.

I went from 16s to 17s and got lowering springs. Not sure what kind of dif 18s would make.
