I am pretty pleased so far with my 323i. I have only had it for 2 months, and have just now started to work on some mods, but I do not think that I could have chosen a better daily-drive car.

Guys don't forget that those 170 hp are bavarian HPs

Everybody knows the equation: 1 bavarian hp = 1.25 japanese hp

Everybody thinks it got a 2.3L 4Cyl under the bonnet, but when we punch the pedal, its another thing

Won all the 1/4 miles run against a fairly modded prelude 2000 sh who got 200hp and +, he was like **** what is that bmw

anyway, love mine, got it 2 months ago and it costed me 19 000 CAD (I think its like 14 500 USD)

I realize that, the Nikasil issues don't relate to 2000 or 2001 model years I believe. I was just thinking with another 120 HP what trouble I'd be in with the law!

I would re-badge the car to "325", just to correct BMW's "mistake".

I wouldn't call it a mistake, but it certainly was a marketing ploy. As for rebadging, nah... then it's like saying your'e not proud of your 323. Besides, I think the 325 is a different enough model to have a separate badge.

It is just more fun to smoke another car and have a 323i badge

Explaining each time the marketing purpose of the name of the car and other differences makes people say .. "Damn, this guy knows his stuff"

I put the word mistake in quotations. My logic is very simple. The last two digits should denote the engine size. That's it.

Even BMW renamed the 540i to 545i. (at least "45" is closer to 4.4L)

Very true I guess 544i doesn't have the same ring to it huh?

yep - same here. i bought it last september when i was 19 right after my integra GSR got stolen...bastards. bought it at 22,000 miles, 4 door and 5-speed, sports package. i hate the snowflake wheels on this, i wish i coulda have found a coupe with the type 44's. it was a lot slower than my GSR, but ive gotten used to it. it does have some pep to it, but i wish i had the money for a M3 at the time - yea right. i would have bought a 330 but it was just too much money for me too.. college loans, cell phone bills, etc. they all suck.

2000 alpine white 323i 35,000miles now.

323ci bought used...have had about a year now and love it, but the only bad thing is that it sits in the garage fermenting like a good wine most of the week until I get around to driving her on the weekend.

You guys with the 330s, m3s, m5s should slow down and enjoy scenery more. You can't pick up da ho's if your FLYING by them

Ohh yeah I killed an ice cream truck the other day off a 10 mph roll. Those bastards think they own the road!

Once you Bimmer, you never go back

Picked up my 2000 323I sedan as a CPO back in October of 03. Love the way the front end looks, the dark Oriental Blue looks very business like (I'm 40!) but still pulls the panties off those Japanese cars I see kids in Toronto driving.
I drove one of my clients in it last summer, he owns a 540i, really nice. As we were driving to lunch he kept looking around the inside of the car, I'm thinking hmmm, he's probably comparing my car to his. He looks at me and says "wow, your interior looks really nice, what year is this?"
Thanks man!
