330xi steering column

Greetings all. First time post. I'm having a go at replacing my steering angle sensor on 330xi. I see posts about removing the upper 10mm torx bolt to allow the steering column to pull back through the firewall, but I find that although I can get the socket on the bolt from below (just) there is zero clearance to get the ratchet on. How is this done?

If your talking about the Torx on the upper steering u joint, I used a ratchet spanner (didn't have any female Torx) & got it from above with the steering turned so that the bolt points towards the engine. Very little room to access with a ratchet from above or below.
