No just hang out. It took about two weeks for them to get the ball rolling.

The car is going to BMW of Towson this coming Tuesday, June 5th for the inspection by a BMW NA field rep. I couldn't get it into my main dealer, Russell, until the 27th, so BMW of Towson it is!

Could someone that has experienced this problem help me identify if my car suffers from the subframe bug (or it's about to happen) ? I posted a detailed description and pics here:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=479049

Thanks in advance.

No, I took it there to have it inspected, then took it back home. I had a loaner for the day it was there...it wasn't at the shop for the whole 3 weeks.

How bad is your subframe damage?

Did you pay to have it inspected? I want a loaner while my car is in the shop, and the whole time they are working on it. What I meant by not having my car for 3 weeks was not being able to drive it for 3 weeks.

And it is bad enough to where it makes me cringe when I drive it some times. I looked at it and it is on the driver's side rear suspension mount, but not at the spring perches. It is where a bushing mounts to the subframe. It is pulled out. It tweaks under torque and I hate that sound and feel it makes. It also makes me get driveline vibes under a torqueload too.

The thing is, I want the Turner Motorsports Subframe reinforcement kit installed too, and have them cover the whole bill. It has been done before, so I will see what happens.

Free inspection, take some pics. Yeah, I also want to get the TMS kit installed to make sure it doesn't happen again. I had MY car back the next day after I took it in, had the loaner just for that afternoon and evening (E46>E90).

I'm not sure when the car's going back in...some issues with the BMW NA people right now before they agree to cover the full cost.

Did they offer a loaner or did you have to yell to get it?

has anyone gotten this fixed free of charge with a custom suspension? I only ask because I might be purchasing a '00 3er most likely w/ a custom suspension

I was offered one. If it has custom suspension it'd be your best bet to switch back to stock before you bring it in.

Do I need to take pictures myself? I can easily do that because I have access to a hydraulic lift.

Yea, switch it to stock suspension before you take it in.

Ahh I gotcha. Yeah, I called them this morning around 9:45 - 10:00 EST and they said that I will have a phone call back in the next 48 hours from BMW NA. I will keep you updated.

And actually I need to take pics anyways. I will post them up but it will be about a week because I just dropped my car off at my uncle's warehouse to have the interior detailed while I am gone at the beach (he has a friend who details cars for a living, and there are always ferrari's and such there so its fun to go there!) and I don't feel like driving BACK over there. I should have taken pics earlier!

Oh, and so they don't blame this on my driving, I am removing my wheel spacers and anything else I can think of that would make them believe I drive it real hard. Hell I may even take out my V1 and have my MOM drive it over there! Hahaha. Better safe than sorry!

Yet another car....

Hi everyone!

I can be added to the list now. I've been keeping a close eye on my car's rear subframe and just noticed the tear on the rear driver's side mount. The tear is not yet as bad as some that I have seen on this site, but I've decided to stop driving it as much as possible until it is fixed. I'm going to call BMWNA tomorrow to see what can be done. Since I have aftermarket suspension components, I'm not sure how easy this is going to be to get fixed.

So from what I've read so far, some of you were able to get the TMS kit installed. Did the dealership install it when they were fixing it, or did you have to have a non-dealership do the repair and install the kit at the same time?

I tried logging onto the site with the lawsuit info, but the site keeps crashing IE after I run a search for BMW. I will try using a different browser from a different computer later.

Is there anything else that I should be aware of to help other E46 drivers?
Thanks,

Nilt328i - 2000 328i 79k discovered on 7/11/07
