My Ride: shines like justice
Has it been asked and answered if there is any pattern to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc owners and BMWNA's willingness to pay? Im a third owner and Im worried that if my time comes BMWNA wont work with me. Anyone have any insight?

Add me to the list

Have cracking at driver's side rear. 111,500 miles, 2000 328i. I'm new to my area (outside of Philadelphia) and have no dealer relationships here. According to BMWNA, that's going to hurt my odds of a good will repair.

edit - Bilstein sports, Eibach springs, RD sways, poly RTABs. I'm doubly jinxed.

my estimate wasn't too bad:

Parts $441.20 (suspension crossmember, rear floor...description on invoice). Body labor $472.50
Paint Labor $45.00
Mechanical labor $284.20
Paint supplies $26.00

$1268.90
SD sales tax (5.92%) $1344.02

I don't know what that paint supply is for? If anyone has insight on that. All workmanship is warranted for as long as I own the vehicle. Basically, all work is warranted, but the OEM parts they are using are not covered if torn again lol.

My Ride: 2000 323ci
Well, I have a 2000 323ci coming up on 140k miles. I'll be jacking the car up and inspecting the subframe spot welds tomorrow. I haven't noticed any driveability problems or noises coming from the body so hopefully I am ok. If I am I will be ordering the TMS reinforcement asap. Will let you guys know.

2000 323i 5spd 60,000 miles last year fine yesterday turner motor sports informed me that it is now basically ripped.. amazing i should tell you they have a kit for this at 170 dollars yet to do it right, rear suspension, gas tank, muffler, and the whole trunk need to be gutted or dropped. well 1200 dollars total is the price and if i or anyone else lets it go so it is all the way through go up another 1000 dollars... so everyone check there cars yearly or buy the part from turner have it put in and never worry about it again. call it pm

Hey Sean, could you let us know when your 323 was manufactured? It should be posted on the sticker in your driver's side door jam. Thanks!

Well I got my car back and here are the before and after pictures. The only mount that was cracked was the driver's side rear, they reinforced the passenger side rear as well though so that the car would sit perfectly even. They repaired the crack on the subframe and then welded in reinforcement plates on the top and bottom of the mount. After they finished the repair they put undercoating on my car and then followed up with a four wheel alignment. Total repair time was one week. No more clunking, car drives great.

So... is BMW north america paying for these repairs for out of warranty cars or just cars under warranty?

My local garage quoted said they could weld it but it would cost "Time and materials." That kind of worries me.

I just told my service advisor and he talked to BMW of North America. A BMWNA rep came out and looked at my car and then I didn't hear anything for about a month and a half. Then BMWNA said they were going to pay 100% of the cost to repair my car.

My car goes in on Jan 8th and they expect up to 3 weeks of shop time. Sounds a little long to me. The week it took (quoted from above) sounds like a way more desirable time frame to me. Good luck guys.

Be sure to contact the law firm in Los Angeles from above, Melissa is the rep and she is very helpful and is taking BMW to court on New Jersey. They are taking photos of my car at my uncle's shop this Thursday for evidence.

Just an update... BMW has had my car since the 8th of December and I was called by my service rep yesterday. She told me that the body shop called and said that it should be ready by the end of the week. I am in no hurry, since I have a '06 3 series loaner, but it will be nice to have my own ride back.

I just crawled under my 2000 328 Ci and sure enough the drivers side rear mount is pulled almost all of the way through the floor! Add me to the list too.
I will be contacting my dealer tomorrow, only 1 problem though, I'm on 19" wheels and I have a Tein coil kit. We will see what happens with that.
