Jaguar is out of F1

Just saw this on F1.com this morning. Looks like Ford has announced that Jaguar will leave the Sport after the 2004 season.

Yeah, but that's sort of misleading. Ford is going to brand it Ford instead and they are taking funds away from their WRC program.

That's what was reported yesterday, but an incorrect source.

Jaguar to Pull Out of Formula One

Ford said on Friday its Jaguar Formula One team would pull out of the sport at the end of the 2004 season.

"After a thorough review over many months, Ford Motor Company has decided it can no longer make a compelling business case for any of its brands to compete in Formula One," Joe Greenwell, chairman of Jaguar and Land Rover, said in a statement.

"We are putting our Formula One businesses up for sale," he said

Ford is most definitely pulling out and it appears as though a Canadian steel company might be interested. I'm guessing it will be Jordan Cosworth next year? The problem with putting the Ford F1 programme on the market is that it will be very expensive, as compared to pickup up struggling Jordan. Although, Ford does have some impressive facilities/wind tunnel.

Holy cats! Now that is news.

BMW is theatening to reevaluate their participation if the engine rules change to 2.4 V10s.

Perhaps this is all a high stakes play on the FIA and FOA.
