Help!! Factory Amp Location in 2004 M3 Converible??

I have just ripped apart my trunk (driver side and passenger side) and the two cavities behind the rear seats. I can not find the factory amp!!!!! Did I miss something? I have the Harmon Kardon system.

Does any one know where I can find it? The BMW Assist unit is in the trunk right behind the rear driver side seat.

I appreciate your help. I need to location the amp (connectors) so I can get to the front speakers.

According to this picture, you should see the amp on the left side of the trunk:

The convertible wiring harness supports that location:

Keep looking to your left in the trunk, it should be deep in there, behind that plate numbered 4...

Thanks for your reply. I did check under the seats. The amp is not there. I will open up my trunk again tomorrow. I am pretty sure it was not on the left side of the trunck. But I might have overlook. Can anyone with 2004 convertible confirm the location?

Great to know this... the amp should be at the same place as long as it is an E46 convertible; You can even notice the plate #4 covering it. Thanks for the clarification...

Thank you! Thank you! I should have post the question before I ripped my car apart.

Anyway does anyone know how to take the panel off to get to the AMP?

Just loosen the bolts holding the mounting panel.

Oh, and don't worry about getting it back there, as it's as simple as taking it off.

to whoever posted the location of the amp for a convertible

I've been looking for the damn thing in my spare time for 2 weeks - everyone told me it was in the trunk and i've been poking around forever - today i finally took the back seat apart (figured i would at least go ahead and run wires) and saw what i thought looked like an amp - this confirms and saves me a lot of headache. Again
