amps under rear deck

anyone have any pics or info on mounting the amps under the rear deck. I wash thinking of putting them on a folding hinge so i can adjust the settings easily. I am just worried that they wont cool properly upside down.

my amp isnt in right now...im waiting for it to come back. im bugging my installer for them..i'll post as soon as i get them.

this is not the recommended way for an amplifier to be mounted - while it may work, no mfg would recommend it, you are working against the design of the heat sink when you mount an amp upside down.

I'm not saying it will fail, but it certainly isn't good for the amp.

I had a fan cooled Kicker 800a4 mounted upside down under my rear deck. I loved having it out of the way, hidden but easy to get to. It lasted a little over a year before it stopped working. I brought it to a local electronics shop, and was told it died because of heat build up. I had thought the fan would keep that from happening, but it didnt.
I do believe that it would have been fine if I had built a shelf under the rear deck and mounted it right side up. Like NYCM3 said, maybe a hinged shelf so you can get to it easier is the way to go.

mine isnt mounted upside down

It is not a good idea to mount an amp upside down. Can you get away with it? sure. You are just stressing the amp a bit more than normal, possibly reducing it's life span.

A good way to approach mounting amps under the deck is to build a "shelf". YOu could put hinges on the rear part of the shelf and supports in the front pat.

... Also, if you do decide to mount the amp upside down, mount it to a board and not directly to metal. A lot of times, it causes noise problems.
