enough airspace for 2 jl 12w7 w7??

i recently purchased a trunk setup custom made for our trunks. its a false floor and the spare is removed. it has two spots open and the previous owner used 2 12w6's in there. now my question is, is there enough airspace to put two 12w7s in there? i know they will fit, but i dont want my bass to be sufficated. what should i do? and is a 1000 watt amp enough to run them both?

find out what the size of the boxes are from the previous owner and check the jl site to see if that amount of space can accommodate dub7s

That size is perfect for 2 12w6v2's, definately not enough room for the 2 12w7's. besides a 1000/1 will power the w6's well, but is not nearly enough for the 2 dub7s

by the looks of things, two 12w7s w/ two 1000/1 amps (yes, you will need two to power that setup) would not work well in that box. The fiberglass doesn't look very think so I would think it would flex too much.

1. that enclosure's too small for dub-7's--they require LOTS of airspace!

2. a 1000/1 is definitely NOT enough power to push a pair of w7s--they require LOTS of power!

yes, i would say they are on par or maybe even better with the w6v2. heard a w6v2 and it actually sounded quite nice. and IDMAX to the W7? i think the w7 will go lower, i heard one 10 in a car and it sounded nice and deep, fairly clean. people who have spent a good amount of time with w7s and MAXes say the MAXes are more "musical". so take it for what thats worth. I really doubt youd be disappointed if you heard a MAX.

nice system i have the same setup! you should be fine with power but i dont know exactly about the airspace. i had 2 500/1 going to each sub with the amps turned all the way down and it was fine. now i'm trying out the 1000/1 but havent installed it yet. i can ask my installer and get back to you on the sub install. i'm pretty sure you'd have to change up though?

I dont think the top board on that box is thick enough for 2x 12w7's. Im thinking some cracking or major flexin going on!!

the fiberglass is pretty thick actually. i guess two w6v2s are what i have to go with. but how bad would 2 w7s sound in that box?

do you think that box could be retrofitted to fit 2 10 inchers instead of 2 12 inchers?

You can build a similar box but mount the woofers with the cone facing inside of the box. That will save you some space. Sealed enclosures are forgiving with regards to int vol by as much as +/- 20%. But if you are an anal audiophile, you'll want to get as close to spec as possible. A smaller enclosure will produce a more pronounced midbass "bump" and will be less efficient.

You could do some cutting and fiberglassing to make 2 10's fit. But why did you buy the box in the first place if you are going to do that?

dont know, the box was really cheap, 220 total. total cubit ft in the box is about 2.1 or 2.2 27s take up between 1.35-1.6. so i think im pretty good with the space setup. i think i will be goin with one amp since its more effiecent.
