Speedventures Nov 12?

Anyone going to Willowsprings on Nov 12 with speedventures? I just signed up, looking forward to seeing someone there!

Is this your first event? If so, check out drivingconcepts.com instead. I have been to the "Streets" and frankly, it's ok. The big Willow should fetch you more fun.

Yes but the streets might be a less intimidating introduction to the track

First even in this car yes. i've done carting before, never been to the streets. Hmm, I already signed up, I could cancel, any more info on the drivingconcept event? How much is it also?

The 180 deg turn at the skid pad is a thorn to me.Every driver has a different line and at times, depending on which school organizes the event, that turn is a favorite for drifters. I had ONE BAD experience at the streets with SpeedTrial USA and that was enough to keep me away from that track. Let's just say some kid nearly t-boned me on that 180 deg turn on the skid pad while trying to drift. The driver's drifting technique wasn't exactly hollywood stuntman's material. I was about 2 feet from being hit.

If you notice, schools like CCA, Driving Concepts don't touch the Streets.

I think you will find more info about driving concepts on Bimmerfest.com. I have personally participated in two of their events. Carl McGinn and Judy Ray run the school. Carl is the Chief Driving Instructor for the West Coast BMW CCAs. Good food. Knowledgable instructors. Most importantly you learn something at the end of the day: a smooth driver is a fast driver.

I am not putting down SpeedVentures. Having about 12 humble schools under my belt, I think events like SpeedVentures are for folks who have tracked for a while and know each turn like the back of the hand (meaning you close your eyes, you can visualise every turn and the gear you are in). Don't make the same mistake I did. I took Driving Concepts Buttonwillow as my first event. Thinking that I was prepared, I enrolled in SpeedVentures Buttonwillow shortly after. Bad choice. I spun and I learnt nothing (no instructor with me to correct my mistake). Since then, I have enrolled in only Driving Concepts and CCA schools.
