Bluetooth Kit

I have a 2001 330ci and I am prewired for bluetooth kit. However when I looked on the driverside door panel to find the date of manufacture it says 10/2000. So I am looking for a bluetooth kit to use a cell phone using the steering wheel controls and the business radio. I did a search and cannot find any helpful info. I found a retrofit kit but it was for (from 09/01). Can I use this??

Can anyone tell me what I need to make this work, the dealerships here won't tell me anything. I just need the basic info on what I need to install, and what I need to buy. Thanks

I just installed the BMW Kit provided from www.eiskits.com. I did it myself on my 2000 328 Ci with Nav (production date 4/99). It took me about 2 hours to install because I had to also install a pairing button in my center console. The system works great except Verizon's Bluetooth Phone (Moto V710) won't let the phone book upload to the car - Verizon issue not the kit. Uses the mic and radio - can dial from the Nav computer, but usually just use the phone to dial. Great customer service. Go ahead and ask any questions through e-mail and they will answer ahead of time.

so what mic do you use? do you hear people talking through the speakers in the car? and if the radio is on it'll quite down?

My car has the mic near the sunroof controls. It was actually just the housing for the mic - I had to install it as well - came with the kit. Yes - the radio becomes silent when you make/receive a call. The front speaker is used during a conversation. It is pretty slick. Nice addition to my car. Pretty cool - as soon as you sit in the car and turn the key, the system recognizes your phone (after the first pairing of course).

is there anyway to turn OFF that phone recognition feature? I wouldn't want to get caught talking to 1 girl while another is in the car at the time.

I don't think you can with the system itself, but you can on the phone. Basically, just turn off bluetooth before entering into the car. A little upfront planning should prevent this situation - I guess a good problem to have if you can handle the juggling

I installed Nokia CK-1W on the car combine with Kenwood 395DVD system and it work great. Everytime I start my car it connect to my bluetooth phone without any problem. Also it mute everytime a call come in and the music will start playing after the call... I think its one of my great mods
