My Ride: smells like surf wax
i've been wrestling with this for weeks now...i want the benfer, it looks so damn good, but i can't spend that mutch when the majority says there is no performance gain...

i ran one on my last car and *thought* i noticed more precise turn in...could have been the placebo effect though...i just can't decide....

I just installed an M3 strut bar on my '99 323i over the weekend for kicks. I was gonna sell it if I didn't feel any difference. Guess what? I'm keeping it.

In addition to faster corners, etc, one of the things that surprised me is the crisper steering response. After I switched to 18" from 16", steering response has degraded somewhat. Now it feels almost the same as running on 16"s again... Ok, not quite but close.

Here's one! Got the Benfer. Put it on about a week ago finally. I haven't had my car long enough or pushed it hard enough to really be able to tell a difference. If I ever get the chance to run it around a track or find a good place to test it, I will take it off and see how much of a difference it makes. I am taking pics this afternoon.

It made a difference in my 530i. I had installed it AFTER my Eibach upgrade. I think that is why I noticed it more, the bigger swaybars cause more stress at the top of the strut mounts. I noticed right away after backing out of my garage that it was stiffer. On the other hand, my 330ci it made little to no difference, it is mainly eye candy.. to those of you who think that they do nothing, your patently wrong... on a new car it will not help much but as the car gets older it does help to tie everything together. Proof is how poorly they fit on older cars than brand new ones...

It will basically just sit there and look good. "
AGREED!!!

Strut Brace...

I decided to stay OEM and went with the M3 Strut Brace.

My car does feel more rigid up front, especially when backing out of the drive way. Haven't been able to push it hard yet (rain & fog), but in some sweeping turns it seems to have less body roll.

Will have to wait and see if any difference can be felt in pushing it hard thru some mountain twisties. So far it is definately not something that can be felt that easily, steering response has remained the same.

I put on A RD strut bar about 3 weeks ago. I felt a major difference as soon as I took it out the shop. I should add that I also put on Eibach sway bars at the same time and it's probably because of them that I feel the differnce...
Next up coilovers and a rear strut bar and watch out turns here I come.
