It comes out to less then $35 I put mine toget back then for about $20.
OIC. Cool. Yeah I guess back then it was pretty sweet

Was just mentioning you can get a wiring harness for $20 as a heads up. Here's a pic.

No probs DionikesX. Mine still look great and I get comments about them all the time. Wasn't looking to make any cash on this stuff (although it looks like someone has figured out that people are willing to buy it instead of make it).

jotti - way back then the wiring harnesses was this jealously guarded secret (even though it's really no magic) so the write up was basically a knowledge dump (not mine though - lots of other people came up with ideas and all I did was write it up). Good to know that someone is making a harness now though!!

hey guys,

i tried to make my harness, but ran into a problem. when i connect 87a to the footwell light, the interior lights come on and dde's do not light up. even if i press the switch on the dome light, they won't turn off. however the angel eyes will light up when the key is in acc. i followed everything in the writeup

When you tapped your wire to the foorwell light, check if you see 12V using multimeter. You may have tapped to ground instead of 12V Vcc.

Jotti,

Can you please let me know where I can get a wiring harness for my angel eyes. I'm new to the forum and having problems trying to hook up my lights. Just seems easier to buy the harness that you mentioned on your response.

Thanks,
Scott

CCFL Angel Eyes

Hey! I got mine on E-Bay for $25.00 incl. S&H!! They looked great when I tested them. However, they didn't come with clear instructions as to how to hook them up. I have them installed(no problem), I just need to figure out the electrical connection. The Instructions say to connect them to the DRL's, but don't give any detailed description. Can I just splice them into the DRL wires directly??

I have a quick question, hopefully someone will see it within the next few days while i wait for my angels from ebay. Why do i need this relay? cant i just wire two wires, one to the footwell for remote on, and one for the ecu to have constant on? why do i need a relay? they are ccfl by the way

Here's a simple diagram... I just hooked mine up to the ECU.. So, when I turn the key.. it lights up.. I didn't hook it up to the interior light. Coz, I don't want it to come on everytime I open the door or lock and unlock the car. Oh by the way.. mine is also from Ebay.

Here's the cost of not buying or making a harness:

Inline Fuse at radio shack: 2.49
Black and Red Wires from Walmart (16 Gauge): 1.99 a piece
5 amp fuse at Radio Shack: 1.99 for pack of 3
taps from radio shack: .99
Electrical Tape from Walmart: .99
Connectors from radio shack: I think 1.99
Zip ties at walmart: 1.99

So all of that for less than 15 bucks.

Hope that helps. Much simple not too confusing.

Mine is the Bi-Xenon. I bought mine from JAT-RACING in ebay.. He states that if you don't specify he will email you and ask you before he ships it. So, the box that came with it on the side it says for xenon types. I don't know what the diff is.. SORRY. all I know is that my rings are both the same size as you can see from the pics above. might be the clips thats the difference.. I don't know..

Also, here's the topic where I got this wiring Idea.

Nice writeup! As a relay really isn't necessary for the install I saved some dollars and did the diode method (see link below). It works great and saves some time and money over the relay method.

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...ighlight=Diode

Oh yeah, I also bought an ebay kit - they work great, and they appear to be the same ring's and ballasts as the ae's sold by site sponsors. I imagine there are very few factories making these rings, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same.
