ZHP vs VW R32

i was home for the thanksgiving weekend and on my way towards fort lee/gwb... i come up to a blue R32. He followed me for a little bit, but as we were coming up to a bend on Rt 4, my radar detector was going off and surely, there was a cop in the dark hiding on the side. after a little bit, i start speeding up and see the R32 keeping up with me. Then comes an empty stretch, i gun it... i see him still keeping up but im pulling ahead on him, by the time im at about 115-120, he was behind about 3 car lengths. i have gruppeM only as a mod. i met up with him at the 2 lights in ft lee and told me he liked my car a lot. very friendly guy from the area i asked him if he was on any forums like vwvortex but he wasnt.

i was just wondering what are the exact specs on the R32? but anyways, that was my exciting story of thanksgiving break back home

Good run I was wondering how 330zhp would do against the Vdub (R32) & Audi (TT 3.2) cousins. I gues you answered th question, although the Audi has an addtional 10hp on the 32. Just be weary of those pesky GTI 1.8T's though

You mean Golf GTI's?..No such thing as a Jetta GTI...

oh my bad... but the R32 is still faster than that right, unless they're tuned, from what i hear those 1.8t's can be tweaked pretty high. i had a run with an audi a4 1.8t, he gave me quite a run, he said he had a porsche turbo placed underneath the hood replacing stock turbo

Yes, the R32 is alot quicker than the 1.8t [V6 (240hp) vs. 4 banger (180hp)]...The 1.8t's can be very quick tho, I just added a chip to my Jetta 1.8t, and it added 40 horse...

Is that the same motor as in the GLI?

no GLI has the VR6 2.8L engine 200hp if I remember correctly, same as the GTI VR6.

R32 is 3.2L.

Actually, Vw made a 1.8t GLI that come modded stock...(BBS RC's, Recaro's, etc.)

Nice car, C&D TV just did a review on it this weekend. I like the looks alot, its nice that they get BBS wheels as standard!

so far i've only had very minor issues all of which I fixed on my own and the problem has not occured.

My rear differential mount is cracking but I'm not worried. I can have it replaced reinforced locally for under $500. I guess that's the price you pay for autox

also the 99-00 with S52 are very cheap under $25K. not bad for a car that does 0-60 in 5.2seconds and out handle many new cars

From what ive experienced at the 1/8th mile drag strip im 9.4(should be 9.3-9.2 on my new tires) on uber-shitty tires, and the VW R32's run 9.2's(with an AWD launch of course). So from a roll id say theyd be very close with a slight edge going to the 330.

But as far as tuning potential VW R32's can be incredibly fast and handle incredibly well. Those VR6's can handle insane amount of boost and CFM.

PS-The car is normally FWD but becomes AWD when slip is detected I beleive

R32 is an awesome car,it just needs to lose some weight. My project R32 will have a target weight of 2750 (very achieavable in street/dailydrivertrim) and with only 4psi its making 365hp At EIP Stage one 8psi, stockcompression, just bolt it on, its doing 425+ bhp, pretty sick for such low psi.

There are also upgraded haldex (rear end ecu controller) already out, which make quite a difference. Add the Alcon brakes, Ohlin dampers, and it'll accelerate and brake faster than a porche gt3, and probably pull as many G's...wont do the samelaptime or look as good, but will cost 1/3of it
