Keep the Spare Tire?
Does anyone have a system they're happy with that allows them to keep the spare? or should I kiss it goodbye?
Has anyone tried the "spare tire in a can" does it actually do the trick? |

a properly design mdf sub box is always better than fiberglass box in the spare-well. the reason being fiberglass box volume is very rarely made to match spec for the sub. i have a fiberglass sub box made to fit over the battery. the volume is very close to spec of my sub. result is not bad. i could let you audition my system and maybe you could ask some installer to make a similar box. I run a single 13 inch focal sub, with the amp rack on the floor of the trunk. However it is hinged, so I still have access to the spare.
See the pics in the sig.

Can't a sealed box also be a just little too small and use polyfill? Of course, not so small that the speaker won't fit.
