Hi all, I am thinking of moving to Australia and so far the research has shown me that I can not import either of my left hand drive cars, basically cause of age
So I'm looking for a nice right hand drive 330Ci or i there.
I can not get over the price of them. Maybe they just have sooo many in Canada, but they are real cheap here I will have to sell both of my cars here just to afford an older E46 there it seems. wow. I would love to import my cars cause both are in fantastic condition. the E46 just got a new paint job and I'm getting her back today even, so its like Christmas in summer (which is odd for us here).
Anyhow, Just wanted to say hi to you all and perhaps I will see you in the future.

Very nice. Shame you can't bring the e31 over! What prompted you to move to Australia? Work or..?

If you love cars, stay in Canada!
If i lived there i'd have a new e92 m3 for less than i paid for my e46 325ci a few years back...

our tiny population and higher taxes suck sometimes... but the city makes up for it.

for example, we had to drive an hour and a half for this:

you can, but it'd hardly be worth it, your talking c.10k for shipping & compliance, then another $5-10k to convert a LHD car to RHD... Kinda kills the point of importing it from NA.

doesnt need compliance if its a personal import. and shipping from japan was 2k, i cant imagine canada being a whole heap more.

not sure if it would need conversion due to being a personal import.... id imagine it would though

I am thinking of buying a car from Victoria how important is the RWC, specially if I am going to get it registered in NSWs anyway. I have already seen the car and to me it seems all good. But a friend of a friend said that a RWC is a good indicator if a car is good. I looked over the things they are supposed to check and didn't find anything that through, it seems like the NSWs blue slip. Help from Victorians will be appreciated.

vic rwc only check vehicle safety items.... any non safety things that dont work dont matter.
racv checks are more thorough, but quality of check depends on the individual tester.
