My Ride: 2003 E46 325i
Hi, another new member to the E46 family Just bought a 2003 e46 325i in Brisbane.

I've always liked BMWs, my dad having an e32 735i (which still goes great) and my mum previously having an e30 320i. Anyway, this is my first BMW.

Unfortunately it has been a bit eventful so far... the auto gearbox cracked up on the way home! Was bought from a (non-BMW) dealer so it was, thankfully, under statutory warranty. The dealer was good, provided a loan car and organised for it to be towed and repaired. They have yet to provide exact details of what was done, but the bill was apparently around AU$3.5k (to them). Sounds like it may have had a gearbox rebuild and possibly new torque converter. Anyway, we finally got to pick her up after repairs a couple of days ago and went for a semi-decent drive up Mt Nebo yesterday. Touch wood, everything seems good now.

I'm now after some sort of ipod interface (got non-nav non-HK business CD player w changer). From reviews I'm intending to go with the USA Spec PA12. If anyone in Aus has a spare one, please let me know

Welcome Elmo. You'll be happy with the PA12, I've had mine for a month now and it works very well! Shame about the auto blowing up. Any chance you can get a manual conversion?

Thanks Goondaddy. If you change your mind about that PA12... if you don't mind me asking, where did you get it from?

I personally really like a manual, but not many around and for diplomatic reasons it was better to get an auto.

Welcome

Hey quick question, on E46 M3 Convertibles and E46 Convertibles, on the rego sticker what does it say? Mine says 3 series sedan. Is that what it's meant to say?

Also sorry to hear about your auto Elmo. What does statuatory warranty cover? I know it's for 3 months, but are there only certain things it covers? Does it cover all mechanical?

In QLD it's pretty comprehensive, for a <10yr <160k car it covers everything but:
  • tyres or tyre tubes, batteries, fitted airbags, lights or radiator hoses
  • installed radio, tape recorder or CD player
  • aerial, spark plug, wiper rubber, distributor point, oil or oil filer, heater hose, fuel or air filter
  • paintwork or upholstery that should have been apparent before the buyer took delivery of the vehicle
  • accessory that not fitted to the vehicle when it was sold.

Bought it from Enfig based on the recommendation of another member.

Hey guys,

Quick question - I've used the search button but really didn't help me.

Do I know a canbus error free kit for my BMW? Halogen. Flame me. It's free.

If you meant HIDs? I will return fire with my highbeams if I see you driving down the road with them in your reflector halogen housings!
Get yourself some projectors.
