This ranks right up there with the telescoping steering wheel thread.

You can log into BMW's website, register your VIN, and download a copy of your manual in PDF format. Do it.

My manual says the key has to be in the first position. I haven't tried if it'll work when the car is on though...

So I realize that you set the clock with the nav unit if your car has nav, but is there a way to set it once you take the nav out? Can you set the OBC to accept input via the gauge knob rather than the nav for setting the time?

This is where the manual falls down. You need to push in the button on the left stalk which toggles through the various display options until you see the time displayed. The manual (at least mine) fails to mention this little detail and if you don't have it displayed, you can twist the little button to the right until it comes off in your hand and it'll do nada. And I figured maybe if it was displayed on the radio that would change. Nope! The radio merely mirrors the main display which is in the instrument cluster. But it MUST be displayed in order to change it. You'd think Hans or Gunter would've thought to include that little tidbit when they penned the manual. Ahh, the lost art of communications.
