Isn't the sidewall made stiff enough so you can drive on it for 50 miles or so before it falls apart?

how bad was the blow out? obviously if you have a huge gaping hole, run flats don't mean diddley squat

you get a mobility kit, which is comprised of an eletronic pump, and a can of fix a flat

car does not even come with a jack, or tire iron.

there is no room for a spare because of the exhaust. but i dont know why the E90s dont have one. that is just retarded.

Actually...How far you can drive on run-flats depends on a few factors...in no particular order. The speed you're driving, the total load the vehical is carrying, the outside temp and road temp, the physical condition of the road.

So...in cooler weather, on a smooth road surface, with a driver, no passangers or luggage...you can travel upwards of 150 miles, traveling at 50mph.

On the other hand...if you have three passangers, luggage, it's hot outside and you're not on the best road...I wouldn't drive more than 30miles on those run flats at 50mph.

yeap it was a nail, but i was going at a 120 mph when the tire went out, so it let out a lot of smoke....and part of the tire came out

and yes i called roadside but i was still stuck in OC with no car, no car rental and no ride home..(except a 100 dollar cab fare).it was a pretty shitty night so i got wasted and took my cab...

kinda funny this **** only happens to me going to OC

You guys are all wrong. When your tire blows out, you press a button and tire gel immediatlly covers the hole, and so long as you're moving over 50mph, your tires will self inflate. Anyone remember batman 1? The batmobile had it's tired popped and batman pressed the button and the tire inflated. That's where bmw got the idea.

Going way too fast when the tire got the nail. I was going 90 and I hit a pothole the wrong way, and it immediately blew out the whole thing. I traveling on just a rim to get off the freeway and to the nearest gas station.

This is what I had left when I got to a complete stop.

A quarter was wider than what I had left.

Granted, my tire is not a runflat, but the tire just basically 'blows up' at speeds as fast as you were going. Just be thankful you and the car ended up okay.

At those speeds, I think experiencing a blowout and not damaging the car, yourself, or some innocent people is a true testament to BMW engineering.

Thank your lucky stars, guy.
