Question HEy JFaswaz..

Great post and thank you! I just got my new 2004 white 325ci and want to do my first wash. A few questions for ya if you don't mind.

1. How many micro fiber towels should I buy?
2. Why are the micro towels from Costco not good?
3. What do I use to protect the interior vinyl, plastic and leatherette?
4. How often should I wash and wax my car?

Thanks!

hmm. i disagree on some stuff but other than that, its a great writeup.

why not just have two seperate bucket? they only cost .99 at walmart.

if you guys have any questions about car care you can email me. i have plenty of cars that i have done and the pictures to prove it. i mean cars with swirls galore to no swirls. junkyard condition cars to show car condition.

A small suggestion

Great write-up!!

My only suggestion is to use 2 buckets - one with the car wash/shampoo and the other with clean water. Use the second bucket to rinse the mitt/sponge/whatever (m/s/w) BEFORE loading up in the wash/shampoo bucket. You'll be surprised how much crap comes out of the m/s/w when you rinse it. Also, this keeps from contaminating the wash/shampoo bucket.

You would think that after surviving almost two years and being bumped near twenty times...they would just sticky this thread....but alas it is not. Hmmm.

Oh well, learned a lot.

why would you ever wash your wheels with a mitt or cloth...thats just plain stoopid. Use a good cleaner like P21S and use a BRUSH you nimrod!

Here are some great tutorials w/ lots of pictures, they have helped me more in my detailing process than almost anything ive come across.

How to clay your vehicles finsih.

Detailing your interior

Detailing your engine

Glass and Clear Plastic Detailing

Polishing Paint

Removing Swirls and Water Marks

Proper Washing and Drying Techniques

Detailing Tires and Wheels

Hopefully these are informative and come in handy to everyone.

I bought a carnuba wax/cleaner instead of just wax... I also have a polish/scratch remover.. Can I use the polish then the wax/cleaner.. or is that counter productive??
