^^sarcasm.

True rich people drive nice cars but nothing extravogant, don't brag about their cars and don't talk about money. This honestly has to be one of the worst threads I've read in the history of the forum.

Sorry to be a dick, but seriously, financial status is one of those things noone should care about. Half of my freinds are loaded out the ass, the other half are dirt poor, can you tell whos who, sometimes, does it make a difference in how they act or whether or not they are cool people - no.

I paid for my car in cash, with the help of my parents of course (was 17). However, my car was a much smaller investment and has depreciated very little in the time I've owned it.

I'm with Tenchi as well, smells like BS to me.
I agree. What the fcuk do I care which one you guys paid cash for your car or not??? All people who I know who DID actually pay cash for their cars are more reserved and do not brag about it. I bet 99% of you saying that you paid cash for your rides are lying about it. Why would someone feel the need to post that they paid cash for their car and will have their mortgage paid in 5 years??? Do you want us all to rave on and on how pimp and cool you are and make you feel so good???
Flame on

also, why are some of you doubting a lot of folks here who claim to have paid cash?? when i read the responses, it sounds more like everyone has stash of cash saved up but rather "invest" for 20% annual return rather than use it for car purchase.. oh and let's not forget, all this crazy modding everyone here does on their car is an outstanding investment as well..! lol..

It is easy to doubt, because the majority of people nationwide do not have shite for savings. The culture is more geared toward spending BEFORE you get, as to saving to spend later. What was the average savings for retirees that they announced a few months back, like 10 or 20K? That is for people who have worked their whole life, and I am supposed to believe that the majority of people posting on the first few pages of this worthless thread have saved more than twice that in 20 or so years of life (and only a few of those being income producing)? Yeah...Right

OK I dont see how this makes sense Financially.. Why would you pay for a 35k+ car(that is going to Depreciate) in cash? You could have put like 5k down and gotten low monthly payments. and used the other 30k to put down on several Investment properties using 95% loans. therefore instead of owning 1 car that is depreciating and 1 house that is appreciating you would Own several houses that were Appreciating. therefore you my friend are a horrible business man lol

heh i walked into a dealership and pointed to a car saying i wanted it, and he laughed at me and said "it's $$$! you cant afford that young man get mom and dad out here and we'll talk" cause lets face it im a 20 year old "kid" So the next day I came back with a breifcase and threw it on the table and said "Hope you have a secretary as good as mine =D" the cash was just thrown thruout the brief case to be an especial dick. Bought my 01 323 straight up. Its always fun explaining to an old man how you make more money than him =D. I love doing realestate in Naples, Florida.

Man, all these young dumba$$es need to stop watching Exit Wounds and stuff. People aren't walking around dealerships with duffelbags and briefcases full of money throwin' it at the salesman when they look at the car the want. That's so much BS my monitor is turning brown and my computer is starting to smell.

yeah right. And I fvcked Jessica Alba last night and made videos for all of yous.

Are you dumb as you sound? Walk in with a briefcase full of cash. OOOOK Baller.

You just described a fictional transaction that would only happen in the movies.

so enlighten us....how the hell you ever got $30-40k in cash? Went up to a bank teller and asked for it? I DONT FACKING THINK SO. And not to mention the dealership would never take a briefcase full of cash seeing they would have to file SAR reports for anti-money laundering regulations.

Just wait until they cost what an E36 does. I can't even open half the threads because of what people are posting on Bimmerforums E36 section. Its really pretty pathetic.

Damn you're a baller...and with cred like that, I dare say a shot caller. Amazing that you are a player in the Naples Florida real estate market at 20 (and all the way from Pittsburgh no less), that is what I call big pimpin'. That makes me sad. Here you are throwing down big cash to buy BMW's, and the last thing that I paid cash for on the spot was your mom
