And btw I must say, this thread has so much talent in it. The best photog community on the net, potn, fred miranda, nikonians are all pale in comparison to the e46 photography community..keep it up peeps

On the right shot, a little bit more light on the face? Your eyes are a bit dark (on my monitor at least). I'm a strobist noob so good luck I'm making a DIY Chinatown Special Beauty dish this weekend actually.

Except I went with a 30 qt mixing bowl (~22" opening IIRC). I still have an 8" pizza dish though, wondering if I should track down a 10".

I actually sourced the bowl and pan from an online restaurant supply shop. The bracket from a knock off Qbox24 on eBay (better quality than others I've seen though) and the prep materials/hardware from Home Depot. I also picked up the clear coat.

Hm, good point...I should have cranked up the power, it's amazing how much an umbrealla can soften things up. Before this shot I was shooting bare flash and

What's the main benefit of a beauty dish? It disperses the light more than an umbrella??Casey feel free to chime in.
