Smg?

Just curious can you over rev the engine with smg or will
it safeguard you from doing so?

I was pretty sure it would.

not to thread jack but to add to this, say you are going 100mph on your highest gear. then all of a sudden, you downshift like 4 gears, like into second, will the car let you? what actually happens.

the system is designed to protect it's self against most foolish attempts to destroy it.
Providing the system is in working order and functioning properly it will not let you over rev the motor.

as to downshifting... it will not let you downshift into any gear that will result in an over-reving of the motor.
it will let you downshift to aboot 7,800 but I have never made it DS to a gear higher than that.

i guess what i was trying to say, if i was not elaborate enough was that, you know how manual cars, you can be in say 5th at 80mph and you can money shift (purposely) into like 2nd, and though the car would be in that gear physically, could you do the same thing with the smg

I once hit the redline and the RPM suddenly dropped to like 4K.

No the computer will not allow the driver to money shift if that's what you're asking. If you are going the right speed and decide to downshift it will match your RPM's. Yes you can redline in a gear.

Not sure what you missed in my first reply so I'll try it again.

the computer will not let the driver shift into any gear that would result in an RPM over the redline.
It will let you shift into a gear that will result in a near redline... ie 7,800.
you don't pick the gear, the computer will put it into the closest gear to the one you request that will ot result in over-reving.
