Garret - it's easiest if you open the car up to take a look at it - it will make a whole lot more sense if you do.

1. cut the houseing for the heater core/ac core
2. cut/remove the rod that connects the two baffles
3. trim the baffles so they don't hit the head unit - if needed

Then, you have to cut the carrier for the factory headunit/hvac controls - then build custom brackets to mount the dual din unit:

If anyone wants to know how deep that pocket is behind the hvac - just take a look at those mounts - on the driver's side, I had to trim back the H700 cage and the mounting bracket to get it to fit, on the other side, it just barely cleared.

Double Din

OK after thinking about this for several months and the alpine iva-w200 just pushed me over the edge. I'm in Troy, MI has anyone done this this in the MI area? Or know anyone that can do it or wants to do it. I don't mind trying it myself if I have to.

Any Shop Recommendations in SoCal?

I'm interested in a Double DIN head unit (the IVA-W200 looks awesome). Unfortunately, I don't trust myself with doing this kind of work. Any good recommendations for shops in SoCal that has experience with this work? I don't want to take it to some random shop that doesn't know what they're doing.

Also, any cost estimates on labor and installation?

Here's a pic right after I installed some ABS to cover the opening I cut.

Cutting the ducts is the easy part because its easy to see what you are doing. Its open area behind the cover. You really have to try and mess something up. The hard part (at least with the eclipse) was mounting the head unit to the radio carrier and getting it to fit because of all the wires.

Where did you buy the abs plastic from? I went to home depot and they don't have anything. Also, I think I cut too much from the duct because the vents stick out when they are open and get in the way of anything I try to cover the duct up with

Edit: ya im pretty sure i ****ed up

Nope, you're good. I had to cut off a corner of the louver on the side. You haven't f*cked up....yet

You can get ABS from home depot. I used a heat gun to put a 90 degree bend in the ABS. Worked out good.
