Can you tell me what kind of changes you plan to make for the future classifications? I am very interested now.

Im turning 50,000 miles and sofar so good. Just changed suspension and am going to VIR Thursday to really test it out. Im curious about your transmission mounts. My tranny is acting up a bit. Doesn't wanna go in gear when its cold, and the lever stays cocked to the right (toward 5th gear) when it's moved in that direction when the car is cold. My car was just in for its last service before the warranty runs out. I know that on occasion, BMW has replaced trannies with this problem. I told my dealer and said that I would be happy if they simply changed the fluid for me and thats it...which they agreed to do...but as usual, did not do. They claim that changing the fluid in the tranny would be "opening up a whole new can of worms". When I asked what worms...the service manager when on about how its lifetime fill and that its probably worn synchros and all this other bullshit.... Its a shame how they BS everyone all the time... Im gonna give them a shitty survey...

Anyway, I was wondering how you were able to tell, if you were, that your trans. mounts were messed up. I wanna make sure mine do not fail at the track..

Thanks

Regarding the transmission fluid, many people (as well as myself) have upgraded to RedLine ATF (whether manual or automatic). My theory of what they mean by "lifetime" fluid is the lifespan of your warrenty. Keep in mind this is coming from the same people who say its fine to go 10K+ without an oil change...EEEEKS! It doesn't surprise me that they won't change your fluid, but it's not a bad idea. I've be told to change the tranny fluid at 30K mile intervals after opening the "lifetime seal."

The shitty survey part is very funny. They freak out over that kinda stuff.

My independent mechanic had the car on a lift while doing an oil change and noticed it. I just got the new mounts put in last week. It's not a wow type of upgrade, but it shifts better than with the busted mounts, especially on downshifts. I've also had less misshifts, but that might partially be psychosymantic I had my tranny fluid changed at around 50k miles and it felt better, I didn't use Redline, just BMW fluid. It's still a little sticky when cold, but after it warms up it's fine. Haven't noticed any funny lever angles, so I don't know anything about that.
