Exclamation Essential grocery list....

If you want to get into shape and clean up your diet include these basic, but tried and true, items on your grocery list. Please feel free to add (no twinkies or anything that comes from the chub aisle please ):

Meats:
Boneless Skinless chicken breast
4% fat lean red meat (london broil or top round cut)
Salmon
Cans of Tuna
Extra lean ground turkey
Eggs
Fat free cottage cheese

Carbs:
Sweet potato (sliced and baked mmmmm)
Brown rice
Oatmeal (not the instant kind, the whole oats kind)
Broccoli
Spinach

Fats (really important in a healthy diet):
Olive oil
All natural Peanut Butter (the kind where oil rises to the top)
Almonds
Peanuts
Avacado
Flax seed oil

Misc:
Splenda
Lemons
Mrs Dash, no salt added, lemon pepper
Cholula Hot sauce (very low sodium)
Diet Rite or any other soda made with splenda

What else do all the health freaks buy???

Take out the Soda...but other than that looks pretty good. I have no issue with the Instant Oatmeals either.

Rolled oats are made from hulled groats that have been steamed and rolled flat into flakes. “Instant” or “quick oats” are groats that have been precooked in water, dried, and rolled superthin; although quicker to cook, they have less nutritional value because of their exposure to high heat during processing.

Pork loin can be as lean as chicken breast, so i eat that occasionally. I eat boat loads of salmon, mahi mahi, ahi, halibut, and swordfish. I think that Fiber One is 2nd to Oats, so i mix that into my diet every now and then. Umm.... strawberries and apples are basically the only fruits i eat. I generally eat all veggies, but broccoli is tops. Black and Pinto beans are a great complex carb source. I would definately encourage people to take some Sesame seed oil like Sesamin; EFAs are very important in any diet. Avacodos are another great source of fats. 100% whole wheat pasta and bread is ok too as long as there isnt any HFCS

Diet Rite has no sugar, carbs, sodium, caffine, calories, I have no idea what it does have, but I don't think it is bad for you. I like the white grape.

That's great but nothing is better for you than water. I sometimes get tired of regular water so I drink bubbly water as well

Shrimp is high cholesterol hence it should'nt be on a health guru shopping list. Also, when considering low fat milk, get goat milk instead, it's much easier to digest than that of cows. You folks did'nt mention Veal, this is what I consume instead of beef, and it's much leaner too.

Dietary cholesterol, which is what you find in shrimp, has almost no impact on blood cholesterol levels. Saturated and trans fats is what you need to worry about, so it should stay on the list. It's high in protien, generally, any type of fish is good.

I think everything has been covered that I buy except a few things. I get South Beach Diet frozen meals for when I need something quick. I also buy gallon jugs of egg whites here: www.eggwhitesint.com and I get Muscle Milk protein.

I also buy good corn chips (baked lays or other brands that only have corn and salt), and Nature's Valley trail mix bars. I've been eating clean for over two years now (6 meals a day), so you have to include some good "junk" food to stay motivated.

Muscle Milk, tastes great, but it's garbage. Get some Optimum Nutrition 100% whey protein
