Burning smell under hard acceleration

It happens when I floor the gas pedal from 2500 rpm to like 5000 rpm or so. It happens in all 5 gears. I can smell it inside the car. I don't think it happened before under the same kind of acceleration. Any idea what could be the cause? Could it be the clutch is wearing out? (It is not slipping though)...

Any help is appreciated. My car has 55K...

How's the smell? Rotten egg? Or just plain burnt? Most likely after 55K, it's your clutch...be a good idea to upgrade to a Sachs anyways.

Could it be the clutch even though it's not slipping? i am just worried that the smell is from the engine and a slight degree of damage could have been done to it...
