8" or 10" Sub with stock amp possible?

Hey Fanatics. I'm disappointed with the Harmon Kardon in my 2004 330i. I want to get a subwoofer that will alleviate the system of the bass some music dishes out.

I want to buy an 8 or 10 inch sub

I don't want it to take up space in the trunk (spare tire well custom enclosure?)

I want to retain stock amp and headunit

What are my options and what are your opinions?



Although it is likely worth the money for what you get, the BSW kit is too expensive and takes up trunk space and mitigates my flip down seats and I don't have 5 mins to temporarily uninstall it every time I want full use of space.

If I MUST get an amp, is there a brand or particular model that works well with factory H/K speakers?

I have a infiniti sub 10inch if you are interested. it sits right on top of the battery terminal do it doesnt take any extra room. If you are in the Dc/md/VA area we can take a drive and you may listen to it. if not then I recommend you buying an infiniti bsw bass link II (the same sub it is great, I am selling it because I want to get a light weghit battery)

Sounds cool. Did you buy it as a kit or did you make or have made a custom enclosure?

The HK system is an "active" system. You can't just replace the amp with an MTX, JL, or Alpine.
Unless you are going to go full-out, stick with an add-on sub/sub-amp setup. Trunk spare has been done many times. If you search then you'll find.
