Jumpy idle at stop
i have 2001 325i.
recently, the rpm goes up and down at idle when i stop. it seems to go away when heater or AC's on.... maybe it idles too low? about 2 years ago, dealer replaced the cam censor because my car kept stalling on middle of streets. can this be the problem? now i could hear some kind of air blowing noise from engine. i had K&N filter, and sometimes i put too much oil after cleaning the filter. maybe i need to clean intake.... i started having idle problem when i started my car in cold weather and servince engine soon light comes on. it goes away when weather gets warmer....could this cause the problem? i called BMW and asked them if there was any recall on coils. they said my car is not on the list....should i replace them anyway? I know i am being very annoying....sorry but i really want to solve these problems and drive my baby without any concerns.. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! |

Check your MAF sensor
I have read that a lot of people with CAI have this problem after a while.
I believe the oil in the filters kinda clog up the MAF sensor after some time. I would first see if that is the problem since it a an easy fix. Good luck |

this is a shot in the dark but you car's fuel injectors might be somewhat clogged. you can get some fuel injector cleaner to see if it helps.

Could be your ICV, your injectors, spark plugs, vanos unit, or coils.

Hey,
I am having the same exact problem with my car. i have a 2000 328i. In cold weather when I first start it...it will be fine for a min or so the the RPMs start to drop and come back. I have no idea why this problem occurs. It doesn't bother me too much but wish it didnt happen. I don't get any check engine light. I already went through the part where my cam shaft had to be replaced because my car would stall when driving |

Also, can you tell me what a MAF sensor is and how I would go about cleaning it. I'll take that step to see if it resolves my issue

Please do some research on the M3 forum. The problem is common and easy to solve. Bet each of you have a CAI system. The air needs to be cleaned or straightened. Fetch your old air box and remove the plastic grid and install it between MAS and air filter. Clean MAS with CRC electrical contact cleaner. Get some software to get the most out of your system. I cleaned MAF sensor last night, and the rpm stopped jumping.
However, the car still shakes little when i put the gear to D. it completly, idles smoothly when the gear is in P. can it be a tranny problem or should i bring it to dealer(they said they charge 150bux to look at my car.) can 2001 325i have a COIL problem? How can i fix this problem? Thanks |
