Questions about the suspension.

Currently, I have UUC v2 springs with stock shocks.
I was thinking about upgrading the shocks. What shocks do you guys recommend?
I don't really care about ride quality but want to maximize handling.
Car is for street use and occasional auto-x.
I just can't go with the coilovers yet... so what options do I have?

I can only spend up to $600 or so w/o installation cost. So... I might have to look for used set. I went to auto-x only once but planning to go more.
Is my current set-up really bad for auto-x? UUC v2 springs with stock shocks and 19 inch wheels.
I am thinking since I am a novice... it doesnt make much difference at this point by changing suspension...
So I might just save money for now and increase my driving skills first...

Working on driving skills is never a bad idea. The UUC springs should help with the body roll. Try changing tire pressure. I put 2-4 psi more in the front to help dial out the terrible understeer of our cars. The tire pressure for the rear is easy, there's markings on the tire (if they haven't worn off) if you are scubbing off tire beyond that mark add pressure, just don't exceed the max limits of your tire! Same for the fronts, but you can exceed the tires limits if you push the car too hard and it will still understeer. This simple change could shave tenths of a second off your times and dramatically change your cars handling.

I always let the car cool down and readjust tire pressure to street levels (35psi front and back) before getting back on the street. I also assume you know about the 3 second DSC hold trick to turn off the electronic gizmos. Your times will suck with DSC on, even in the rain (unless you are a real novice).

Good luck and have fun with autocross.
