lcd tv help

so i want to get a 26" tv for my bedroom. i want to get a flat panel lcd screen. i always hear that plasmas are better but i dont think they make plasma's that small. i just need some real easy help to pick out a tv. i have a few that im interested in. im not looking for anything crazy. i just want a good picture, good sound. pretty much im looking for the honda accord of tvs. nothing too crazy but something reliable and that is the best bang for my buck. what are some key features to look for? also im an idiot when it comes to this sort of stuff so if you can keep in lamen's term, that would be awesome. thanks for your help!!

these are what im interested in so far. let me know what you think. feel free to refer me to other models. thanks.

The Sony & Samsung are nice. Also check out Panasonic. They are all very nice lcd's. If you watch a lot of sports I'd get something with a fast refresh rate.

After seeing several brands lined up, with proper input signal... the Philips in my opinion looked by far the best, but that was one of their top of the range LCD's with Pixel Plus 2 and 8ms refresh rate. I think it was just below the ambilight model.

I have the 42" version of that Philips, and it is awesome. I'd recommend it.

really? which model? we got one for my gf's family, and quite frankly i am not impressed at all. true the sd signal is nice, but for hd and even dvd it is horrible. i still can't figure out what is wrong with the tv, and them being up north i haven't had much time to ever really play with it. but do take note, they love the tv, and even though i brought other tv's to compare with, they still think there's is better, go fig?

edit: i've also spend some time behind a freinds 26in sammy lcd, and it gets my vote, great quality.

I have the PF9730A, and I love it. I have no experience using it for a standard definition signal, but the quality I receive from watching DVD's (..via an upconverting Sony player), XBOX 360, etc. is great. I'm soooooo happy with this television. I have my fair share of TV woes (...Pioneer plasma non-Elite, etc.), but I found happiness with this TV. Maybe your family members need to calibrate theirs. I calibrated mine using DVE. I am very impressed with this televisions' black levels, etc.
