Your car overheating in stop and go traffic is most likely the auxillary fan. I had the same problem on my car and it turned out to be the fan.

cgrizzly888, yes the mechanics actually installed my new fan yesterday!! Car would run back and forth to the Central Valley from the Bay Area in 90 degree heat with no problems. Yet, when I got into stop and go traffic - the needle would go to full red after a couple of minutes!!! The worst part? It happened at the same exact spot both times (the merge lane at the EBound entrance to the Bay Bridge!!!! (There are no emergency lanes on the Bridge....so I was not a happy camper.)

mocoso, that's awesome! you should be able to hit 300k easily. but, if decide to make it a fun weekend car, what will be your daily commuter in a couple months?

thanks for the pics of the odometer, awesome!

how much do you think you invested as far as maintenance (everthing included)?

2001 330ci, i've had a ton of problems since i bought it with 58,000 miles on it. now is has 75,000. New Alternator, MAF, New Sunroof Motor, New Auto/Step Tranny (went at 71,000). I cant remember the rest, there were a couple other minor things, but now i have to get new control arms and bushings.

My Ride: IS ON DPE's
I've got 149,547km, took good care of her, regular service, had subframe reinforced, bought the car new, it's never left me stranded, drove it from Toronto to North Carolina in January without a second thought, hope to get another 100,000km out of it!

DPE Wheels, H&R, M3 Interior...way too many mods to list.

I have a 2000 323i sedan with 128,000 miles. It has had the typical window regulator failures (six of them), three baffling failures of the power steering pump, and some cooling system problems (reservoir, hoses, thermostat, not water pump, strangely). AC Blower Resistor. Replaced leaking valve cover gasket. Control arm bushings, on my third set of brakes (someone tell me why BMW brake rotors are out of spec if you try to turn them even once http://forum.e46fanatics.com/images/.../banghead.gif). I recently replaced the intake camshaft position sensor. I change the oil about every 7500 miles and replaced the auto trans fluid/filter at about 100k. So far no problems with the trans. (crosses fingers)
