145,000K -
major = control arms, both cam sensors, all window trim gone, cracked trim on door handles, auto tranny on the way out, pcv valve/hoses on the way out.

routine = iridium plugs once, belts once, fuel filter once, all brake pads once

maybe fail soon? = all 4 O2 sensors ($$), alternator, starter, coil packs, fuel pump

Age will be the death of us all...

2004->72,000 miles

Everything on the car has been replaced at least once, if not twice. Seriously. I have had the entire front and rear suspension replaced at 34,000 then the entire front replaced again at 65,000. Cats went around 65,000. Secondary air injection, shot at around 50,000 still broke. Passenger rear trailing arm snapped while driving...the list continues. If you'd like, I'll scan my 370 pages of service orders which include approximately $25,000 in warrantary repairs.

1999 323i...bought it in July 2007 with 60,000 miles...today, May 11, 2007 it has 72,300 miles.

Problems fixed since I've owned her are apparently pretty typical from what I gather from my research. They were all DIY and include:

two new tensioner pulleys
new belts
new ignition coils
new plugs
new valve cover gasket
new automatic shift indicator plate
one new tail light bulb and cleaning of the license plate bulb
new thermostat
new water pump
new battery
installed a K&N airfilter
three oil and filter changes with M1 sythtech 15W-50
*new front control arms put on by deal just before purchased
** Praying to God that auto tranny failure does not happen to me....
