Anyhow my question is that for 2006, is the California Legal limit for alcohol at .06% now? Instead of .08%?
No, it's still .08% Blood Alcohol Content. You can go to jail for anything over .05% if there is only alcohol suspected. If drugs, or a combination of drugs and alcohol is suspected, then you can go to jail under .05%.

So your friend that's in front of you knows that you're kidding. But the cop down the street doesn't. Next thing you know, you're getting pulled over, and arrested because they think you're the pervert out there raping girls. Just be careful with those things.

There should be a court date at the bottom of the ticket. That's the last day that you have to take care of the ticket. PM me with what the exact sections are that you were written for, court date, court location, etc. I'll see if I can help you out a little with what you're facing.

Back again with another question.

As you may know from my previous post I have a fix it ticket for front plates, blinkers, and tint. Now the ticket isnt due until may or june. I am almost done selling my car. Will I have to fix everything before I sell or will a release of liability form be enough for the judge. I did this with my previous car and all I had to do was show the judge that I sold the car.

A bill of sale/Release of Liability should be sufficient. But double check with the court. Are you coming to the Tustin Marketplace meet on April 23rd?

I might be if I still have the car by then. But that remains to be seen. Thanks for the help though. I wouldnt want responsibility for the ticket to transfer to the new owner.

I am a Hawaii resident but visited California recently and regretfully got a ticket for going 97 in a 70. There is no fine but an address on the bottom that indicates where the court room is. The offiicer told me respectfully to expect something in the mail within 60 days.

What are my options here? It is not feasible for me to go to court since I am back at home. Will the package to my house include the fine amount and envelope so I can pay it out right and be over with it? If so, how much of a fine can I expect to pay?

thanks!

The fine will vary based on the county you received the citation in. Assume about $300 or so. What county did you get the ticket in??? Are you sure the officer told you to expect something within 60 days? The reason I ask is because the court days that you are assigned on your citation (should be noted right near where you signed) is usually only about 30-45 days from the date you received the ticket. You must pay the fine or appear on or before the date indicated on the ticket to avoid additional fines and the issuance of a small FTA warrant.

This citation took place along the I-5 going up north to SF. The wording of locatio is unclear but it says something like IB I.5 Phelps. Beat: 3. Area: 495
Executed at place: Freco. The court address is in... what looks to be Coaltalga, CA 93210.

and yes it says within 60 days on the bottom.

I got a ticket the same place there. They do not mail courtesy notices in those counties along I-5, where people get huge speeding citations. I was ticketed at 98. You should call the office, the officer would have given you the number along with the name of the courthouse written at the bottom of the ticket.

Frobie, a question for you. Regarding the ticket above, I called the courthouse and they have no record of the ticket. I spoke with the court liaison and he contacted the CHP, which had no record of the ticket, either. The liaison advised me to just keep calling in and waiting for the paperwork to push through, although the ticket was given Feb. 20, 2006 and the court date is April 21, 2006.

What happens if the court date passes and still no fine is processed? Am I off the hook?

Call the office and what? Request for something to be sent to my house? The cop explicitly said something would be mailed to me. I'm so confused :[ i just wanna pay it and get it over with haha.

with rehards to your 98 ticket, did you go to court/pay a fine? if a fine, how much $ was it?

I'm not familiar with that area, but I know here in L.A. County the superior court has a website that allows payment of citations among other things....not sure the area where you were cited has the same...

Good luck

That's "Fresno" ... and "Coalinga" here's the court info: http://www.fresnosuperiorcourt.org/courthouses/#11

and that's a Fresno Couty Superior Court:
http://www.fresnosuperiorcourt.org/traffic/

here's a quote from that webpage

Quote:
It is not mandatory that the Court send out notification. However a notice is generated and mailed as a courtesy, often referred to as a "courtesy notice"....
If you do not take care of your traffic citation in a timely manner, a hold or suspension will be placed on your driver's license by the Department of Motor Vehicles and a civil assessment of $300.00 will be added to the bail amount currently due.
As far as the fine/bail amount, it depends on the VC section that he wrote you up for... My guess is it'll be $350 (for 27 mph over the speed limit).

And lastly, there's a reason he wrote you up for 97mph instead of say.... 95mph
( @ 95mph = 25 miles over the speed limit; the fine would have been $175)...

Hope you enjoyed your visit to Cali

HEY Frobie!!!

I recently was stopped in Santa Clara County, and ticketed for 75 plus. i was indeed driving between 70 and 75. I pasted up many cars because i was driving by a heavy merge on so it seem like i was speeding by. Should i contest this ticket since its only 10 over the speed limit.

Get the names of everyone that you talk to, and the date/time that you talked to them. That way, if they have no record to the ticket, but six months down the road, it shows up, you have proof that you tried to take care of it in a timely manner. I doubt that you can get off the hook, but who knows... I'm sure stranger things have happened.

If the other traffic was stopped, or even moving at 20-30mph, then there's no reason for you to be going 65mph. I would say to not bother fighting it. You DID just admit that you were speeding

It all depends on your record; and when the last time was that you went to traffic school. If it's been over 18 months, just pay the fine and go to traffic school. It's like having to pay your dues to join the "speeders club"
