Nowadays, hard drug use will likely be and instant DQ in most cases, but there have been exceptions made. Anything more than experimental - not to be confused with recreational - drug use will raise eyebrows.

Have any of our LEO's here ever given a ticket for anyone driving too slowly (not involving a dUI). Just curious.

I've cited for impeding. Usually in an area where the far right lane is exit-only and backs up. People like to pass the traffic in the adjacent lane, then slow down to cut back over.

Good on you. I used to have to take an offramp that would back up for 3/4 mile during rush hour. I can't tell you how many self-important people would pass everyone by and then stop traffic as they tried to merge onto the offramp in front of everyone who just waited 10 minutes to get to that spot.

Ditto. I've done the same. Another ticket I love giving is to those people who as mentioned, are self important, go into an intersection even though its already backed up on the other side to the intersection. The light turns green for the traffic from the other direction, but those people can't move because that self important person is blocking the intersection. Easy ticket, blocking an intersection

I hate those people. They are lucky I havent yet found a tasteful way to mount rocket launchers to Thule crossbars.

Thank you for ticketing the bastages.

I was thinking about mounting a GoPro to my car to record the caravan to Bimmerfest. Can I be cited for having that mounted onto my car?

As long as it's not mounted in such a way that your view through the windshield or front windows is obstructed, you should be fine. I certainly wouldn't cite for it.

Are radars illegal in CA? I'm thinking of getting a V1 to cut down the chances of getting surprised by a hiding cop.
Ironically I've been speeding daily for the past three years I've had my E46s and my first ticket was last month but it wasn't for speeding, and I wasn't driving my car.
I was leaving my college's campus in my spare beater van and got ticketed for having a faulty taillight and it was campus police that pulled me over. Right as I left the parking lot

Yes, detectors are legal...radar jammers/laser interceptors, on the hand, are not.

I have to be the luckiest dude in SoCal ever!
As I was pulling into the Bimmer Fest lot on Saturday I got a damn ticket!
Got it for pulling out my phone as we SLOWLY go into the lot and recording my surroundings! A officer in a motorcycle then told me to pull over and gave me a ticket!
And by far that is the fastest ticket any cop has ever given me.
It was ready in like 3 mins...
Now question is... Is it even worth fighting it?

Were you on your phone? If so, are you willing to go to court and say that eithr you weren't on your phone, or that it was an emergency call? If not, what are you going to fight?

I was recording everyone going into the lot.
But idk I was just thinking of maybe saying it was an iPod instead of a phone.

I'd wait for more experience people to chime in, but damn, why pull out your phone in an area infested with Police officers lol...can always record later, especially since I don't even think I arrived till 11am and there was still a line

Hmm, I mean it's your call but I was trying to put it in perspective because in its simplest form, the phone WAS in your hand. Me personally, I wouldn't write. I only ever write legit talking on the phone/actual texting tickets
