Odd brake issue

Hi all.

I left my '03 325i Touring parked for three weeks while I went on a business trip.

When I got in the car to drive it, it wouldn't move - is if it were in Park and the hand brake engaged. I checked. I was in reverse. The hand brake was off.

Odd.

I tried Drive. Then Reverse. Several times. Eventually the car began to move.

If I applied the brakes while driving, I heard a chattering sound that lasted briefly after removing my foot from the brake pedal. In the six days since I have been driving the car again, that sound has gone away.

What has not gone away is...

If the car is rolling forward slowly and I pull the hand brake handle, the right rear corner drops significantly. If the car is rolling backwards slowly the same action causes the left rear corner to drop.

Searching didn't turn up anything like this! Thoughts?

Thanks,

Terry

You likely have an issue with the parking brake pads sticking to the drums in the rear rotors. Here's a diagram from realoem: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_0768.
