i personally dont rate the 355's much at all.... underneath theyre very...... backyard built, theyre slow and the f1 gearbox is clunky and rough but the fit and finish of the panels/seals etc isnt too bad compared to the new ones.
As you probably know though, you dont buy any italian car and expect it to be reliable. Porsches build quality is far superior.

nice daily.... personally i think you should have gone for the update, IMO the led rears and front update make it look much better. Plus the old ones seem to get really loose after a few kms.

things to check/worry about on your car:
make sure the plastic coolant pipes and t-piece in the valley and the back of the engine have been changed to alu as they sh1t themselves in a big way nowdays. Also its common for the starter to hang on, especially if its been floating in coolant in the valley for a while.
Variocams are another common fault with them and they cost a fair bit to replace and tailshaft centre bearings split and bang around under the car.

Its common for the old cayennes to whine from the front right on takeoff... its nothing to worry about, and lastly make sure you unblock your a/c drain every now and then..... the rubber lips stick together and end up flooding inside the car.

hope this helps

Thanks for the advice, it all helps! I appreciate it

I had a look around at the time and was open to a newer S but couldn't really justify copping close to $100k for a truck as I don't drive much during the week (the update 3.6s were going for more money than I paid), and they aren't going up in value (I figure the downside is much less on a TT), anything that was comparable had a lot more ks and was more than this (its got 56k on it with FSH). A mate was one of the master tech's at Porsche and has moved over to the adviser side and went over it for me but I'll keep an eye on what you suggested thanks!
