Damper Relocation

Does this just disable any control over the left damper control, or does it reconnect somehow?

It can be installed without losing any functionality.

Does anyone here use the carrier with individual buttons? I'm debating on which to order as I have a M3 currently with cigarette lighter.

Someone said for the HVAC Carrier, i would need these two part numbers to relocated the climate control when installing the double din :
51 16 7 001 408 for carrier with single row of buttons
51 16 8 230 902 for carrier with individual buttons

but a m3 member said this is the part number is

51 16 7 001 410, which is different from what they have above. Which one do I use? I have a 2002 3 series 325i sedan.

Now, someone is saying i need this?

The 560 piece is only if your car came with factory navigation. Did it? If not, you don't need this piece as your car already has it.

The only difference between 410 and 408 is that 408 is for non-smoker package. Do you have an illuminated ashtray? If so, you'll need the 410 piece.

I got confused with the words "single row of buttons" and "individual buttons". So single row of buttons (408) just means NON SMOKER package with (410) being SMOKER package?

What is the 902 for carrier with individual buttons??

If you dont get this kit and you try moving the climate controls down, is there just a gap? It still fits right?

The individual buttons vs. row of buttons refers to the buttons that are right above the ash tray (i.e. dsc button). Cars with the HK speaker system, for example, have an HK button there also.

Here's an example with a row of buttons (taken off mybimmer.net):

If you only have the dsc button, you need the one with individual buttons.

I know that for the Alpine W200 you can (if you get the add on nav unit). It allows you to choose which visual you would like to watch while listening to any source. For example, I can listen to ipod and watch my rear view camera while driving....or watch a dvd while listening to radio, etc.
